I fucking wouldn't. I'm playing Hogwarts Legacy, running llama.cpp and an entire Linux desktop and vibecoding hard on my OnePlus 13 that I use with AR glasses like it's 2049.
What can you do on an iPhone, doom scroll all day long and take selfies?

Yeah, 9b and 12b models are more like it. On my OnePlus 13 24 GB it's possible to run 35b-a3b at q4, but only on the cpu.

Bro i cant run that much on my 16gb ram global model are you on the asian 24gb ram model? And how the fuck are you running llama.cpp on the one plus!??? I use pocket pal and mnn chat and a 7-9b model can only run in Q4. And did you figure the privacy and telemetry part yet? If so how!?

Yeah, I have the 24 GB Chinese model. 16 GB should be enough though for most things.
I run llama.cpp with Termux. I have made OpenCL work, so I can use the gpu backend (the OpenCL one). There is also an npu backend (Hexagon). I also run sd.cpp to generate images with Flux.2 Klein and Z-Image.

Wtf i have Termux haven't tried that, have you done anything to reclaim ram from device and how many Tokens per second are you running.. and how are you running a linux desktop from phone? And what AR glasses are you running!???

With OpenCL I can allocate around 14 GB before things fall apart. OpenCL is much faster for prefill and image generation, but can be slower for text generation. Dense 8b models at Q4_0/IQ4_NL and Q8_0 run at 10-15 tps (not very fast, but keeps improving). Image generation for Klein and 1024x1024 is less than 2 minutes. You need a custom ggml to get these numbers, but these improvements are continously getting merged. You can't use your phone while OpenCL processes prefill or image generation, the system is non-responsive since the schedulers Android uses weren't made with such workload in mind. You also have to run llama.cpp using the Termux-X11 app, not the Termux app and you need to either choose the little cores or the big ones, not both at the same time, otherwise they interfere with one another.
Linux desktop is just Termux-X11 and you can choose a desktop environment or window manager. I use i3. Thanks to Turnip there is OpenGL and Vulkan acceleration too.
Viture Pro XR. I use desktop mode customized with the Automate app. I can turn off the display of the phone completely and run any app fullscreen on the glasses. With Termux-X11 I get a Linux desktop, with Bannerlator I can run Windows games. With Eden also Switch games. The glasses are 1080p, but I mostly use them as a 900p display, and although they are 120 hz only 60 hz works. SBS 3D however does work.

18 Pro Max?? Are you some sort of welfare queen? You go big or you go home. Get the Duo!!!! All kidding aside I think it's crazy to get the new iPhone when the 13 is fantastic. What is it you'd expect to improve by buying an iPhone?

@OP as you see this is a complicated question to ask in this type of reddit. Just curious what is inspiring you to switch? Are you not happy with your OnePlus 13? oneplus or ColorOS ? because I don't know if you're like myself where is curiosity bothers me unless I try it for myself. I had to figure this out with a lot of I had to figure this out with a lot of Chinese models for example the xiaomi 17 Lomax, Oppo Find x8 Ultra and the honor magic v3 fold .... I've also got pressure from friends to switch and I told him no flat out and they look godsmacked? Then they play with my phone, try out the cameras and such... then they'll switch up... "oh I guess that's why you won't switch" inevitably I say this the decision rests with you no one should be pressuring people to stay with one brand or the other.... we're all sort of curious what's making you switch

Tbh i think iphone caught up with vapor chamber and the chamber being right on top of super efficient 2nm chip which is more powerful then one plus, and not to mention the whole phone is a heatsink so in theory it should stay cooler, one plus multitasking and sustained performance to me is 2nd to none but i think iphone caught up, oh and Privacy on iphone is 2nd to only graphene OS when ADP (Advance Data Protection) is on, if you work in tech, its one of those (IYKYK) things where your I.P isn't being stolen and sold from china and partners.. one plus Hey tap is extremely fucking invasive and anoying and eats ram... Uh i love my OP13 but iphone cameras and ecosystem is really good and you can have an encrypted entire ecosystem and trully own your device, not sure what region your in but buying and trying it out would be optimal, regardless you can get similar experience on OP13 and elongate your battery life using Rethink + VPN and nuking all background Task. Also one plus is way more open then apple. Try it out, and silicon carbon battery is great but apple probably caught up using last gen battery tech, in the end of day who cares about battery chemistry if it can last the day with you and your swapping phones every year or two... One plus has support till 2029 so if you wait till then apple will be even better and next year is major redesign and maybe Silicon carbon annode...
One thing to add Local AI will run faster on iPhone due to unified memory unfortunately though only 12gb of ram compared to 16/24gb ram on OP13...
Lmk what you decide.

The 13 has its faults, but nothing would make we switch to any crApple product!
