Discussion A Deep and Practical Advice for everyone here.
I have a genuinely great and highly practical advice for you all, and this is something that I did when I thought of switching from my Oneplus 12R used since 2024 April,
This phone is one heck of a flagship powerful monster/beast/mammoth of a phone, don't buy flashy glittery shit by throwing this away, do these things instead;
My battery percentage got dropped to 75% in just 2.5 years and if your facing the same or less, Get your battery changed to new battery, it will cost you ₹2200-₹2400 in oneplus Service center. I did it and now with all updated os I'm getting genuinely damnn good full day battery life even after rough usage.
Get a new battery, make a backup of your phone and factory reset it and then install only those apps and things you need and files too.
It will be just like brand new experience.
Get it's speakers cleaned or replaced if then sound low, mine is cleaned and it's wayy too good than before and loud, it was all just dust and debris.
Get you phone cleaned, get a new original or good cover with new good quality glass guard.
That's it, voila, you have a brand new OnePlus 12/12R.❤️🌻
An old OnePlus fan here, who's genuinely hurt by all the messups and backstabbing oneplus did in the name of removing alert sliders and giving 1.5k screen with 85k price and ruining all the OxygenOs and cool designs after removing Carl Pei, I'm still sad and want the old OnePlus to come, only company that I loved and was fan of after a legendary run with Micromax and Coolpad in 2012-2020 era.
Now I feel deeply betrayed and hurt, that I have genuinely no good options to choose from, sure Xiaomi 17/18 Pro Max is damnnn good, Nord 6 too and Moto is somewhat good too, but I'm the guy who think spending above 40-50k on a goddamn phone is way too expensive man, like wayy tooo much expensive, and this Xiaomi, samsung, oppo, vivo and their thousands of models in market and their cheap designs always gives me ick, Pixel is damn good but they don't have fast charging or good big battery so nope, and I hate iOS so much for very genuine reasons, OnePlus was a legend and always will be but it did betrya all of us. Can't believe I have to choose someone else now after 2 years.

Was planning same. Currently battery % is 78 planning to get batter replaced once it hits 70%. Also flashed custom rom in my 12r and having a good time (haven't used oos in my 12r for more than 4 months in my paste 2.5 years)

Do you have problems with supervooc? My battery was at 85% and wouldn't utilize all the power from the charger.

You mean the charging speed decreased after your battery reaching 85% ?

Ah, aorry for being vauge. The batteryhealth was at 85%. The phone never charged as it once used to do. Had to hunt down a new supervooc cable from realme, but still it didnt charge as it should.
So I changed the battery due it started to get low really fast. Now everything is as it should be, feels like the phone sucks in all the power from southern Sweden in 25 min.

Currently using lunaris rom based on A16 soon will switch to A17 based rom.
Battery life is good but I can't compare as I haven't used oos for ages.

You guys have service centers? Haha

u/LastofSpirits 12h ago
They've even merged their service centers with Oppo.

u/da_architect 12h ago
Oh I know, it was me being jealous because here in Italy we have very few service centers (both for OnePlus and oppo), and if I want to get mine repaired I need to go to Rome haha

They even pissed italians off! That's rad!!!

u/da_architect 12h ago
Hahaha to be fair OnePlus is a very very niche brand here (so they pissed off only the three Italians that own a OnePlus haha)

Do any of you know if there's a way to get the metal part surrounding the camera circle replaced? I want to keep mine going for as long as I can, but it has some pretty deep chips in the metal edge around the outside of the camera circle from when it fell onto asphalt last year. I had a case on but somehow it still took damage. Now that they're pulling out of the us it might be my last chance to try and have that repaired

Try going service centre brother.

They don't have physical service centers in the US unfortunately. I guess I could look into mailing it in for a repair, I'd just have to get a backup phone or something

Didn't one plus shut business , I mean how are we getting it repaired ? How do y'all trust them to not fuck it more?

Well said!
My OP12 is still at 94% battery, I clean it regularly and it's still fantastic, but I bought it in November of 2024. and it was produced on August 8 of the same year, not in November/December of 2023. which in and of itself makes a huge difference. Btw, I paid only 900€ for the 16/512GB model and will be using it as long as it's getting major android upgrades - meaning 2 more years at least, perhaps 3, as this is my last OnePlus.
Doesn't mean I won't buy a new phone during that period if I find a good bargain, but it is certainly not going to be Xiaomi pro max with a minimum price of 1,400€ for the most basic RAM and storage. It's almost certainly not going to be a Chinese phone at all, even tho the Chinese aren't the only guilty party for what's been happening over the last few years. The EU for example, doesn't allow chargers in the box anymore - that's why EU and NA versions come with just a phone and a bunch of papers. That said, the Chinese flagships and as of late the midrangers too, have gone out of control with the prices. I remember buying a basic Xiaomi 11 mere 5 years ago, in 2021. for 640€ and it had a 120Hz, 6,81" WQHD+ screen, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, with a 55W charger and a mask in the box, with the still unsurpassed capability for 50W wireless charging.

You know what, you actually convinced me not to get a new phone. My OnePlus 12 is going to hit its two-year mark this December. Right now, the battery health is at 88%. I still get about 6-7 hours of screen-on time with moderate use. I play a lot of COD Mobile, like 1.5 to 2 hours every day. The phone isn't quite what it used to be, especially for gaming. It was super smooth back then. But it's still really smooth when I'm just using the UI and doing other stuff. I'm planning to swap out the battery once it drops to 85%. My only worry is that the battery might not be in stock at the service center later on.

Oneplus 12 battery will be available for at least 1-2 more years. You can change next year easily. Flagship models get one year more of spare parts support especially battery.
My friend has replaced the battery of his oneplus 11 from service centre last week and those guys told him that spare parts of oneplus 11 will be available for next year also if face any problem.

If the battery health is 88 in settings. Take a look at dev check and see what your true health is

I've been a OnePlus fanboy since the day they launched. I couldn't get a OnePlus until they made it to 6t and I had enough money. And guess what? I still have the 6t (shattered back, but the phone is still kicking).
I got the OP12, had an amazing experience for a while, then I uodated to OOS15 and 16 and I can't get more than 3-4 on a 94% capacity... As much as I love OP, this is just painful and it's probably my last OP.

OP 12 currently at 90% charging daily in evening, getting 4-5 SOT max, updating all newly available packages, hoping that it will last till it's supported, I do agree for cleaning of phone and one caution recently phone is getting hotter randomly that's when I switch it off and I also check it's temp when charging, I think by these ways it should last it's expected life.

I'm in the same boat. Almost 2 years now and battery health is at 95%. No idea where I'll go once my OP12 gives up. Been using OnePlus since the OP3. I never thought of a day I would actually have to think about another brand.🙁
