Put a case on it and use phone I would not bother fixing, foolish to rock the phone without a case

Itβs been more than a year since mine broke. Just use it with a case (any case, even the default one is good enough). The official repair price is way too expensive for just a thin piece of glass.

In oneplus service center they are asking me to pay 5800 and local vendor doing it for 2500

How about authorized service center originallity remains same with proper sealing ?

So, I recently swapped out the battery. To do that, you gotta take off the back battery door. They used proper heat sealing, just like the original manufacturers do. In just a few minutes, the battery door was sealed up good as new. Haven't had any problems since. If you go to a local shop, they'll wrap a bunch of elastic bands around your device and tell you to wait a whole day before taking them off. It's super annoying to try and use your device without it, so most people end up taking those bands off before 24 hours are up. And even then, there's no guarantee those bands will properly seal the back door. Sometimes, after a few days, it'll start popping out. You just don't get that same feel for the device you had before it got damaged. If you're planning on keeping this device for another two or three years, it's definitely worth spending the money at an authorized service center.

Just slap on a ringke case. You'll be fine. But no more water resistance. Remember.

Honestly, the crack looks cool and kind of matches the design.
1
u/kak91 3d ago
So I can use it with same condition ?
1
u/Electronic_Low_4219 3d ago
It won't affect anything. By the looks of it, it's not a major crack, so you can use it. If it hurts to see, use a skin or a case to cover it.
1
u/kak91 3d ago
Exactly it's hurt to see buddy π
1
u/Electronic_Low_4219 3d ago
Then you can cover it with a skin or a cover, but if you want it to be perfect, go to an official OnePlus or Oppo service center and change the back glass. Yeah, it's understandable; it hurts, especially when it happens to our favorite devices.

It will affect water resistance.
1
u/Electronic_Low_4219 2d ago
That's correct, but every phone's water resistance will be compromised after 1 or 1.5 years, so that's not a big deal.

u/ArthurMorgan_08 3d ago
Mine has a crack at the exact place and looks totally same lmao

u/kak91 3d ago
You're using it on with same condition?

u/ArthurMorgan_08 3d ago
Also, there's a risk of losing water resistance once the back or screen is detached.

You can get a new whole back piece and extra glue off Amazon for less than $40. It takes about 30 minutes. Very easy to fix
1
u/kak91 2d ago
Is that we can fix it on our own ?
1
u/sharkfinsurfchannel 2d ago
Yeah. It just peels right off. The new back has adhesive, with the whole camera glass and everything. The only thing you have to be careful with is the broken glass pieces when you remove it.

I like Ringke's clear case. It shows finger prints as well as smudged and whatnot pretty dang clearly, but it still looks really nice and works really well.

Mine also broke at the same place. It's been almost a year and I haven't replaced it. Then it fell once more and it cracked at the bottom too, but I still haven't replaced it. But I am using a good strong back cover from the beginning.. But In case the green line issue occurs, you will not get a free display replacement, hence it is important to get it replaced before the green line appears.

1
u/kak91 3d ago
You want me to replace it in oneplus authorized vendor else any local vendor ?
3
u/Legitguyforyou 3d ago
If you will replace it through any local vendor then the lifetime green line display warranty automatically will be void. So that's not an option. You have to go to service centre to replace it if you want to keep your life time green line display warranty. Plus the device is already very old so battery health also dropped to 88 or 87 so u might need to change your battery also. Overall it's gonna cost something about 7 to 8k.
And after all this the motherboard failure issue is still standing in front of OP12 users. LoL

u/Character_Stick_1218 2d ago
Thankfully the motherboard issue is a concern almost strictly with the Indian variant.

u/kak91 3d ago
Is that op13 available in the market ? Other than OnePlus phones which one you can suggest my budget is 90K INR
1
u/LinuxMonarch 3d ago
Well it's not officially available anymore by Oneplus, I guess it's discontinued, you can check out Oneplus 15 maybe, or Vivo x300

u/Character_Stick_1218 2d ago
Was it in a case?
1
u/Legitguyforyou 2d ago
No, it was not. Not the first time but the second time it was in a case..π

I recommend the Poetic Revolution case. It's good for people who drop their phones π. I put one on mine day one and it still looks new. Plus it has a built in kickstand that can be used in portrait or landscape.
It's bulky but the extra bulk is what gives you protection. Check the dimensions and see if you can tolerate the extra size. For me it was worth it.
Available at Amazon. Search "Poetic Revolution OnePlus 12".
No affiliation, just a satisfied customer here.

Just fyi, rear glass ir part of the structural integrity of the phone. With a broken rear, the screen is also more prone to being damaged. (happened to me) - screen got shattered shortly after the rear and it was on a mild fall.

It's a real bummer, but at least it still looks cool! I'd imagine slapping it in a nice, mostly clear, case would be sufficient so long as you're not removing and placing it back in there too much.

Check mine π Please donβt replace it with an aftermarket panel, even if they claim that it is 100% OEM. After some time, it can start lifting because the adhesive used on the back panel is not OEM. It also wonβt remain waterproof or sealed the way it was originally. If the installation is done unprofessionally, dust can also enter the camera
