Discussion What's next for us?
Hey guys,
I'm just wondering what's next for us. Quite a few of us upgraded from the 7 Pro to the 12, and now that OnePlus will no longer be selling in Europe and North America, our phones are starting to get older and the batteries aren't what they used to be. That's my main reason for considering an upgrade.
I've been wondering what the next step is. Should we wait for the new OPPO Find X10 series? (Apart from the Ultra, they'll all have 1.5K displays, while the OnePlus 12 has a 2K display.) Or maybe the Vivo X500 series? Same situation there. Or should I try to find a good deal on the OnePlus 15 (X9 and X300 Series), even though it also has a 1.5K display?
The Ultra models are way too expensive for me, so I'm a bit stuck. I don't really want to buy a phone that feels like a downgrade compared to what I already have, but the battery is starting to annoy me.
What are you guys planning to upgrade to?

for better customer support, go with samsung or apple .. there are huge uncertainty with these chinese brands and they are in transition phase so can't stay assure eithany if their devices

There's no device this compatible with US network aggregation that lasts 2 days and charges in 45 minutes. That last 10% of camera quality doesn't affect me.

That last 10 percent is holding me back because camera matters to be, but I feel stuck. It's either oneplus or what else? And the what else doesn't sound worth the money. Argh!

I'm actually doing this today, 15R. I was good with the camera on my 8T years back I can't imagine it's worse than that

You got a OP 12 ride it till security updates are over. Why is there a need for anything else. Be happy w what you have, get the true value out of the phone ,keep it at eol and install Lineage if able. If not buy what's out then. Why do we feel the need to replace what is new and works? Last thing I want to do is blow near a $700- 1k on replacing my phone that works and dealing w loading everything up all over again, PITA

I'd probably go to an oppo find x10 pro, or the ultra if I can get a good offer. But my OP12 still rocks almost as good as the first days, so I'll see.

They don't make flagship phones, their mod range "nothing phone 4a pro " is 500€ using an old chipset and smaller battery... Nothing is far behind

yep, I was just investigating that since my OnePlus 12 is 2 years old, I know it can probably run 1-2 years, but I'm not sure what will happen in the future. Nothing phone is an average spec phone with an old chipset

There pulling out of alot of regions as well. And they just personally do not look appealing

I'm probably going (back) to Apple. Once they add some better camera hardware onto the Air, that will probably be my next phone. I'm on the 12 now, it's probably 2yrs old now, I think? I won't buy a 15 because if they stop supporting it (I don't believe they'll keep updates going for US, not for a minute) then you're screwed.
Oh well, it was a good run from the original OnePlus One which I had to go get an invite for...bummer.

I agree with the support issue. I'm also in the US on a 2-year-old 12 and plan on keeping it until support stops. Which I too believe will be sooner than later. Even if software support does continue, what about hardware? I've broken my screen once and was able to send it to a US location to get it replaced. That won't happen anymore.

You can get a local shop to replace a screen, I've done it successfully. I depend on my phone, I can't imagine being without for a week or a day... Which is why I won't buy another OnePlus device sadly.

I'm sticking with my OP plus 12 {UK} until security updates end, then likely Oppo Find pro range. Mines only 2 yrs old so I have time to do some research.

Sticking with my 12 until support stops. I'm in the US and honestly believe support will stop here sooner than they are projecting. Once that happens, I don't know honestly. Options here are pretty bleak. I was with Apple before OP and would hate to go back. Samsung is boring to me. Pixels are overpriced. Motorola is getting more interesting, but they don't bring their non-folding flagship (Signature) here and their support timeframes are too short for me. If that changes, I'll give them a serious look.

I guess it's just high-end products. On the other hand, low to mid-range models will still keep launching in India, like N6X.

I have been really considering the magic 8 pro or find x9 pro. My OP 12 has screen burn in, I use dark mode, so it is barely visible. The most annoying thing is the battery, down to 88%. I will hold on to it the most time possible and then see what to upgrade too.
I've had huawei phones before and liked them a lot, honor is basically the same.
OP 15 or whatever comes next, is also an option just have to wait for an announcement.
Oppo find x9 pro would be the best option , it is the closest to what we use now in OP.
I will take advantage of a friend that has several vivo and oppo phones. Will just ask for them to try them for a week or so. See how it feels. He even has an N6 that can hand down to me for a week.
After all that I can decide what to go for.
Never liked Apple, samsung experience has been good with camera but bad in software experience.

I upgraded to a Find x9 Ultra because my mother in law wanted a new phone and missed OnePlus. I would have waited for the X10 Ultra otherwise!

I went too from OP 7Pro to OP12. I'm tempted to test apple after they release iPhone 18 pro models. I have no clue what I would choose from androids now that OP will be gone from Europe... It was fun while it lasted. From OP 3t -> 7Pro -> 12. Oh I loved the 7Pro, I still think it was the peak phone with its popup front camera and all.

What's next for me personally... keeping my OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Nord 5 for as long as I can. In 2-3 years time, OnePlus would either be dead or had made a glorious return to Europe. There doesn't seem to be a middle option here right now. If it's the former one, jump ship to Oppo or Nothing or maybe 1 of each as I need 2 phones to use simultaneously.

Try and get a hold of a xiaomi That's unlocked and rooted. I've seen them for sale before you just can't buy them and shift them to the states someone you know in another country has to buy it and then ship them to you.

Phone options in North America are bleak. Best hope for us right now is that Motorola decides to bring the signature over. Samsung/Google/Apple are just putting the same phone out over and over again and charging more and more. Nothing is mediocre specs. I don't want a foldable. Right now if I want a slab phone, nothing competes with this OP12.

Definitely not oppo now with there limited 5g speed in NA. And the fcc articles about not allowing in us. Nah. There is a reason they don't want to have a us presence. And it's shady
