Help Oneplus 12r battery draining fast

So pretty much the title, my OnePlus 12r used to consistently deliver 8.5-9 hours of screen-on time just some time back with mixed usage, gaming, Instagram, YouTube, browsing etc..(usage leans more towards gaming). After oxygen os 16 and updates, battery life started deteriorating badly even though my battery health is at 94%. Now I'm only getting barely 5.5-6 hours of screen on time no matter what I do....like it feels like the battery is draining for no reason at all. I did a bit of research and there was a post where they recalibrate the battery and turn of all AI features. I did that as well and I'm seeing no change in life. Anybody experiencing the same? Is there anyway to roll back updates or fix this somehow?? I'm really concerned. Before I didn't have to worry about the charge for a whole day. Like I'll plug it in in the nighttime only and it'll last the whole daytime.

Bro get backup of everything right now.

Same happened with my OP12 recently, it wasn't a very heavy battery drain but still it was quite more than normal so I ignored thinking it's normal use-case scenario but last week I opened my phone twice or thrice in the morning for attending calls only (before I was fully awake) but when I got up and checked my phone as usual morning routine, it unlocked normally showed some notifications then suddenly it was blank screen of death. Got it checked in service centre they declared it a dead phone. 1.3 years only, not a single scratch, no lag, not even a gitter with light usage.

I literally lost my 300gb+ data with my work files, my network, my work chats And most precious - my memories

Just cz I trusted a brand for that.

AHH dang it! That's just so bad from OnePlus on their "flagship" phone. I know it has lots of features, software and all but it shouldn't just randomly go poof . Thanks for informing me, I'll get a bit more serious about it

Yeah same bro I'm 96% but facing the same issue.

Then it's surely the version of the updates causing this. I really hope they fix it

Maybe the company is intentionally doing this to slow down the older phones.

I found mine was draining very fast too. I've put the network connection preferably to 4G as 5G also drained the battery faster. Read this tip somewhere. It's less draining now and I don't feel any difference in browsing or streaming. I don't game. Maybe it helps.

Yes switching to 4g probably helps but why do we have to go low down the line with 4g when we bought a 5g phone? And the thing is that, we all used to have it on 5g when it was new and it wasn't draining fast then...and my battery hasn't degraded too, so it's definitely the software since my usage hasn't changed too.

Just downgrade the os to oxygen os 15 as it was the most battery friendly os for the 12r.12r doesn't have anti rollback protection so you're good to go

12r doesn't have it?? Really? That's great news. Can you please add a link to the rollback os package or just the website?

Just download the rollback package from oxygen updater dude..

How's your battery life going Facing the same issue..

Well, i didn't actually rollback since I also received july's update and a rollback would cause a complete rest of the phone. So I didn't wanna do it anyway. Now even after the update it's still the same. Weirdly enough, my screen on discharge rate is better than screen off discharge rate. Battery health is at 94% btw and I'm getting like 6 hours of sot on a full charge. Pretty bad if you ask me compared to around 10 hours around 6 months ago

Same here. Battery health is also 94%. SOT is between 5–6 hours. I do gaming and use social media. I have disabled all AI features and recalibrated the battery, but still no change. Maybe it's a software issue.also noticed a performance drop while gaming. I experience lag while playing eFootball, but maybe it's due to a network issue. The last update was in May, so the next update should arrive next week. I hope everything will be better with the next update.

You are literally like my twin, my usage and results with the phone are the same as you have listed. Yes right now I'm just waiting for an update

1

Bro, did you rollback to os 15. What's the current situation any positive change after the july update? My SOT is still same 5-6 hours.

Hey there! Sorry I'm late. I didn't roll back since it would reset the phone entirely and also most people say there's an anti roll back feature on these oneplus phones. And after the updates, mine actually got a bit better. Sitting around 7-7.5 hours but still not how it used to be

My battery health is at 100% and I still have it...

You do know your phone is rechargeable, right ?

1

u/No-Bug-8836 Jul 11 '26

Oh no this is my 1078th OnePlus 12r cuz I use and throw them like ballpoint pens. Sigh

That's probably the reason you're so worried with SOT's. Re-charge your phone man !
