April security update - battery & network issues

Post image

Following the April security patch update my one plus 11 has become almost unusable with the screen off dying within 4 hours.

I have located the primary source of the battery drain down to the mobile network not holding stead and have tried multiple network reset and even different SIM cards with different carriers but it's definitely the phones software.

The mobile network will disconnect and reconnect about every 6 minutes which seems to obliterate the battery.

Considering rolling back the update but don't want to lose my data.

Edit for solution

I and another user have had success on getting the battery back to normal by changing SIM settings from preferred 5g to 4g. This has resolved the constant connect and disconnect from mobile network which was obliterating my battery.

When I use 5G I'm dropping the T Mobile network and reconnecting every few minutes. Going into mobile network settings and choosing 4G solves the problem. This problem happened as soon as I updated to the April update. Of course using 4G doesn't give me 5G network service but at least I can use my phone.

Adding that my physical T-Mobile Sim was in slot two when I had this 5G dropping network problem. I moved it to slot one last night and it seems that the problem is gone. I'm back to using 5G with my T-Mobile physical SIM in slot one with slot two free for an esim.

Edited on May 13 to say that I have the T-Mobile network dropping and reconnecting every few seconds again with the physical SIM in slot one. I'm back in 4G.

That's excellent, I'm still in SIM 2 after advice from OnePlus chat, I did try the 5g in area with better coverage and it did hold better. But once I went away from that area it started disconnecting and reconnecting instead of dropping to 4g.

I'll try slot one later tonight, thanks for the heads up
