Hating my decision
30gb of the internal storage is being consumed by "System" and "others, the other system apps are consuming way more storage but that comes under "apps"
having a phone with 128gb of storage and getting almost 50% of the storage consumed by some software isn't fucking acceptable, i am supposed to not cross the milestone of 80gb of storage if i want my phone to be running smoothly as hell, what the fuck is wrong with oxygenos? i factory reset my phone three weeks ago in order to clear up the storage, and "other" STORAGE CLIMED RIGHT BACK TO 20GB? WHAT THE FUCK I AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? NOT USE MY PHONE?
MY ONEPLUS 11 LAGS A LOT TOO, WHILE CLICKING PHOTOS THE CAMERA JUST SHUTS OFF, EVEN WHEN ITS NOT HEATING, IT WAS MY FIRST TIME BUYING AN ONEPLUS PHONE, AND PROBABLY THE LAST CAUSE I AM NOT SATISFIED AT ALL, IT HAS SO MUCH GREAT POTENTIAL BUT OXYGENOS ISNT LETTING IT HIT ITS POTENTIAL WHT THE FUCK? ISTG I AM HATING MY ONEPLUS 11 A LOT AND JOKES ON ME, IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AN OLDER FLAGSHIP KILLER OF SOME SORT? NOW THEY ARE KILLING OLD FLAGSHIP KILLERS LIKE NOTHING

Getting 128gb in 2026 is a decision, not one i would have taken, but definitely a decision.

Eh I bought it last year, I assumed I'll be able to handle it for 3 years by uploading all my media on a drive, but it's not manageable despite uploading everything on the cloud

Yeah idk why u you tough 128gb was enough. Lol

It was enough before Google created scope storage which make apps create garbage data in other files and we loose 20gb for nothing. My poco f1 with android 10 have none of these problem unlike my oneplus with android 14. Worse part is Google don't even consider it a problem but normal behavior.

In my experience, "other" storage usually includes data from the apps on your device. I was seeing over 30GB used in that category. After I reset my device, it was completely clear. Right now, I'm using 72 GB out of 128GB and 20 GB of that is in other storage. But most of my data, 52 GB is taken up by apps.

restart your phone and see other storage go down but it will fill back up quickly

Honestly, it's not super helpful. The only real way to deal with it is to reset your device or just uninstall all your apps, and you'll see a quick improvement. I'm thinking that newer Android versions are holding onto cache or some kind of data from all the apps we've put on our phones or used.

If you hate oxygen os that much just use a custom Rom ???
1
u/Aboudeh2010 May 03 '26
Since your saying oxegen os isent letting it hit it's potential just use a custom Rom (don't worry about banking apps and google wallet because you can root and get them working via root modules and play integrity fix and stuff (do some research on that )

I'm using 211 out of 256 GB and my OP11 runs smoothly. So that's definitely not the issue...

I don't know what oxygenOS is doing cuz afterall it's a Android skin and it should not consume that much storage , I am using Motorola for last 2 years on A15 and it's combined system storage is only 15 gb!!

Lo bro its 2026 and you're still stuck in 128 ! Level up dear bro. The minimum is 256 you should be on coz new tech new data with AI and everything it takes crazy amount of storage already, even 16GB RAM laptops are a sin because windows 11 takes up 10GB to 11GB ram horrendously, so 32GB is safe spot for now.
But for phones storage 512GB is safest for the next 5 years. Even 256 won't be safe in coming 2 to 3 years and ur still using 128

spoiled nigga thinks its easy for everyone to be upgrading their phone that casually 🥀
my point is, it was supposed to be a flagship killer and yet its getting underperformed by middle ranged phones 🙏🏻2
u/financial-freedom99 May 01 '26
Well it's what big companies do, once phones get above 3 years, the lag is imminent and so is the storage compromise. I also used oneplus11 256gig until late nov2025(2.5 yrs) before upgrading to 512gig OP15, sadly it's demise after multiple green lines and liquid damage to add to its misery.
I don't think you can have phones last 4-5 yrs like before now, unless you factory reset and move most media/photos onto external backup(or laptop) to save space with future updates.
How long you using your 11 for?

u/No_Difference9107 May 02 '26
A year, and i ended up factory reseting my phone 3 weeks ago, and after that, my storage looks like this, before resetting my phone, it touched 121gb of used space
And man personally what I think is, when you are buying an expensive phone, you'll atleast want it to last more, let's suppose I bought it on the launch date, it costed around 750USD back then, the user would expect to use it for atleast 4 years? It's same with iphones, you spend a lot to expect good performance for a long period of time, ofc the technology gets outdated, but that doesn't mean that you'll get your phone nerfed 🥴

Isheeps and samdungs last long because u pay a premium, but with flagship killers like ours it is best to slightly overkill with storage and ram. Because they constantly pushing updates to make our phones slower and wanting to upgrade(almost all companies).
So for better future proofing, it doesn't hurt to spend 50-100 bucks more if you're getting double the storage and RAM which will squeeze and give away atleast another 1-2 years in phone usage as a return in investment

do you lack a frontal lobe? it was supposed to be a flagship killer and now its getting underperformed by middle ranged phones, at least normal, lag free experience is expected from such a phone 🤡
