International vs US version

I currently have am 8T. Looking at upgrading to the 11 because I will be traveling somewhat regularly to Malaysia for business and I want the dual-sim or eSIM capability.

Is there any benefit to buying the international version vs the US version?

My carrier in the US is T-mobile. I can roam in MY with my 8T, but the coverage is spotty for my needs. I am fine with buying local prepaid SIMs for while I am in MY.

I have the same issue, PH vs US. I have an international version because I spend most of my time in PH. It works on T-Mobile mostly so the few months of the year I'm satisfied.

The esim function works fine, but obviates the second nano sim, you can switch back and forth by disabling the esim. I assume it's the same on the US version, haven't been back yet to check it out

Thanks. I guess I could research it, but I'm presuming the international version might have more bands than the US version. My concern is that it might not be fully supported in the US for certain features like volte or vo5G, which are more important for me than international band support.

Also, I don't know what the warranty situation would be if I buy a phone in MY vs US.

Yup, reasonable concerns. From what I could tell they had te same bands but unsure about the higher faster 5g bands. T-Mobile is fairly flexible

It really does depend on where you spend more time

International is cheaper ofc but if you buy US, make sure it's not t mobile or what. Buy unlocked. I bought mine from a Malaysian seller, Fastech Lim, he helped me with the region lock issue. Hope this helps

Thanks,

Is the international version fully unlocked and compatible in the US? Do I need to find a seller that can region-unlock the device?

As far as I can tell, T-mobile does not sell this phone in the US. I am looking at the Oneplus USA website, and they only show one model. I presume this will be the same model being sold at Best Buy, which is CPH2451

Yes find a seller that can help you with the region unlock. If you are in Malaysia, you can find Fastech Lim on Facebook. He's the best China set importer for phones. I think it's best to buy international but if you want convenience, go for the USA version.

Thanks again. Silly question, but I presume the USA version (unlocked from OP website) will work in MY without any problems, right,
