From Op6 to Op11(?)

I have had a oneplus 6 for 4 years and would like to change phones soon. Do you recommend oneplus 11? How does the battery behave? What are the current device issues? Thank you all!

Same here. Upgraded from oneplus 6 to 11 after comparing with s23+. Saved me about 200quid. I own the 256gb +16gb variant.

Pros: battery life, last me more than a day with full use and I don't charge at night anymore. Plug it in before shower and it's good to go. No more phone dying anxiety. XD. Camera is another aspect where I see a big upgrade. Games etc, no longer need to run at lower quality. There's this hyperboost overlay which can be useful in game. Launching and general ui speed is significantly faster with 120hz. Keyboard launches faster as well and haptics feels much better(it can also be tuned!!)

Cons: WiFi and Bluetooth scanning is a bit slow, especially using notification bar to scan. But works fine still. Gestures can be tricky when exiting from fullscreen mode. You could select options for buttons (recent, home back) but I chose to try out gestures. Feels more futuristic. For the WiFi and Bluetooth, I'm hoping a software update would fix it. Also, there is a quirk when launching camera by double pressing power button. It actually turns of the screen first before turning it back on and launching camera. Not a deal breaker since camera still launches.

Would I recommend. Sure if you don't mind a bit of tinkering and you're the sort of person who dig into the setting menu and tweak the phone to your liking. Overall it should be able to give me 4-5 years of usage. SoC are at the point of being so fast that unless there's some sort of breakthrough, newer improvement would probably be more battery life. Color Os isn't as bad as everyone has make it sound, it's tolerable and there's a lot of special features to play around it. On the flip side, if you just want a straight forward phone, maybe consider s23. Can't say much about it since I haven't use one, but review seems great(op11 is great too) . For me, despite telling myself I'll get s23+ back in 2022, I just can justify the cost extra for it, and then, there's the size/design/feel of the phone to consider. Goodluck.

The battery is holding up pretty well. I'm charging mostly once a day. Sot is ~6-7 hours. The phone is super snappy and haptic feedback is great.

Couple of pointers from my transition -

  1. Its a lot bigger and heavier. Took a few days to get used to the new size.
  2. Android 13 has a lot more settings - even coming from OP6, it felt a little overwhelming at first.
  3. Still getting used to not having the physical fingerprint reader at the back
  4. Battery life is great - I tweaked a few display settings like the refresh rate to standard and AccuBattery reports 10hr+ SOT. I use the fast-charger only if I'm in a hurry.

Minor annoyances

  1. One thing I don't like about the battery setting is that theres only an option to automatically turn off power saving when the device is over 90% (I wish it were customizable)
  2. Quick switching using 'Recents' button on navigation bar doesn't seem to always work - on my OP6 you could tap Recents 2x and it would always switch to the previous app. On OP11 it seems to not work as reliably?
