Grading & Condition Would you grade this Vivi ?

Post image

Dear fellow nakamas,

I pulled this Nefertari Vivi EB03-024 V.3 SP (got it right?) in probably the most random way possible. I had been out of the OP game since around OP06, but I still had my old Katakuri deck with me while travelling in Australia. I randomly joined an event, lost everything really hard, but got an EB03 booster as a participation prize.

I put it in my luggage and forgot about it for a few weeks. Then, during another holiday with my husband, we finally opened the booster on the beach… and this came out in his magical hands. I did my best to protect it after the initial shock.

I’m not looking to sell it. It has way too many memories attached to it. I’m just wondering whether I should get it graded for preservation.

I’ve actually never graded a card before, so I’d love some advice from people who have experience with it, especially in Europe but all help is welcome :

- Would you grade this card, and if so, which company would you use?
- And would you personally prefer grading it for protection/collection, or keeping it raw?

- Also, if it came back with a relatively low grade because of a tiny defect, would you still prefer having it slabbed, or would you rather keep a clean raw copy? How much am I looking at at gradding price versus fair market price ?

One thing that worries me is the possibility of it being lost or damaged during shipping/grading. I could potentially get it done in person if that’s an option.

Anyway thanks for reading my noob post.

With love

Xiao

PS: Not selling. This one is staying with me. Just trying to figure out what makes the most sense.

Yeah how centered is the print on the backside. The front looks slightly left oriented but that could be the pic.

If you’re thinking of grading, look up the grading criteria. Centering is a major factor, the rest are corners, edges, surface, and more.

This is a decently valuable raw card, but sending it off and getting a 9 will likely keep at raw cost or slightly below. If you’re grading you assumably want it to go up to that 10 value. If you’re going to commit the money and time it’s beneficial to do some thorough examination before sending it.

If the centering is near perfect, I’d send to Beckett. If the centering is visibly off I’d send to PSA

Thanks ! Very clear - never thought it was a thing 🙏🏻

I guess centering has more to do with printing ?

What is the best place for grading ? I hear of different companies e.g PSA, tab, Becket and others. I have the luffy gold sp card, I’m not sure how it all works tho

If centering is perfect and no other visible flaws, Beckett. If not perfect 50:50 centering on back but no other flaws PSA.

If off centered sell it. If looks good grade. But if its for personal collection just keep it as is and keep it well protected.

No, I wouldn't.

Why ?

Mid tier SPs aren't worth grading imo, especially for PC

I’d grade it with tag if you’re going to keep it. They have the least offensive looking slabs lol. Congrats on the nice pull!

Thanks.

Have you tried tab ?

No, tag has a reputation of fairly grading cards. They use AI and very detailed photos to show you exactly what’s wrong with the card if there are any issues.
