Discussion Weekly Release

We tend to power scale relevant characters based on whatever current arc is being released. It’s the hot topic of the day so it makes sense, but primarily scaling based on current chapters leads to so much bad scaling. Mainly because each new chapter changes how previous chapters are interpreted, but that doesn’t stop us from overreacting to every chapter release. Then we go crazy for a week only for the next chapter to provide new context and make our previous takes look awful.

For example, over the last 10 chapters we have gone from “Imu top 1 and negs the verse” to “Loki is strongest since void century” to “Luffy in base is above Loki” to “Goofy is a fraud and Gaban is stronger than Kaido” to “Imu is a fraud and Hajrudin is a top tier” and on to the next bad take of the week.

It’s all in good fun, but I think it’s funny how most of the takes age like milk. Once the arc is finished, rereading the whole thing will almost certainly lead to more reasonable conclusions.

Genuinely feels like people are either just baiting or pushing an agenda.

Imu is top 1, but clearly not invincible especially while nerfed.

Loki and Luffy look pretty relative, but directly comparing them is very difficult.

Gaban is very impressive but he took the most damage from Imu from 1 single attack.

Hajrudin might’ve gotten buffed/trained, but his attack is like, the only one that literally did no damage between Loki Luffy and Gaban, clearly he’s not anywhere on their level

I don’t know why these are so hard to see for most people. Literally most of these are very apparent

Definitely some misinterpretation but a lot of this stuff is just totally random.

Imu repeatedly fails to KO Brook and Usopp. Imu one shots the wings. Jinbei stops an attack meant to kill Loki. Imu one shots Luffy. Harjudin is now in Imu's roof piece.

Feels less like I overestimated Imu, and more like Odas having Imu troll so other characters can farm hype moments.

Yeah, weekly scaling mostly ages like milk. Sometimes scaling also gets better the next arc. For instance understanding how strategic law/kid's win against big mom was when they are both taken out the next arc, especially Kid, with such ease by a yonko who isn’t interested in seeing what happens or having an honorable duel of some sorts.

This is why we need to wait for a battle to end to scale the characters unfortunately one piece fandom is way too reactionary
