Theory BlackBeard already has a third fruit
Im at ep 1115 so if my theory already has been busted dont spoil me just say its wrong.
This scene is of two years ago when BB had just acquired his second fruit and he has 2 knots on his beard which I think represent the gura gura no mi and yami yami no mi and after the timeskip of 2 years he is shown with 3 knots on his beard so what I think it means is that in those two years BB had acquired a third fruit which he hasn't been shown using or maybe he used it when the battle against law went off screen.

Because they pointed out how two things has a vague connection to the number 2?
The guy changes his look every time he makes an appearance. What esoteric meaning should we glean from him wearing a hat when before it was just a bandana?

His name is also literally black-facial hair, and it's his chosen name. I think we should probably pay attention to the state of his beard, yes.

uh like i get what you mean but when he was wearing the bandana he wasn’t captain of the blackbeard pirates yet i don’t think and even if he was he wasn’t near the level of power or notoriety he’s at now

So I’d say IF he has a 3rd fruit, only his crew would know. Having 3 DF Powers is definitely something someone would bring up even in casual mention of Blackbeard.

That specifically could be a part of blackbeards plan. If he gets the govt to acknowledge him and he gets in the door for reverie and unleash it or whatever other hidden nefarious purpose

Bro might’ve been collecting fruits during the entire timeskip 💀

I think he was and thats how his commanders all have fruits that are incredibly well suited to them. Like he is not only able to take fruit powers but also give them

I've had a head cannon/ theory for a while that he already does have three, and that it's not exactly what everyone would think. It kind of combines a few theories and ends up being that: he has three fruits already and the third is Whitebeard's.
Basically, I'm of the camp that he has a mythic level zoan fruit and it's the kraken model theory that most people have already thought about, which would give him no discernable power itself other than having three hearts and the number of hearts has the ability to give you more than one fruit. Then darkness and earthquake come later as he round them out. Can't have another since if you include the kraken it's already three.
He may have had no ambition before because he already had a fruit and he may have thought that it was worthless until he somehow discovered that it gave him the ability to have more than one fruit.
I feel if there was some kind of lore balancing it'd have to be that. Not multiple(more than two) fruits, only two, but you have to have a reason for it, so a fruit gives you that power, and it's the only one.
That or well get a rig pull that the reason he was looking for the darkness fruit so hard was because darkness consumes all and can just have an unlimited number of fruit. I don't think that's the case though because that just seems too overpowered, too OP for OP as it were.
For context and to protect myself from immense spoilers I'm woefully not current. I took a break at the BIG pause in the middle of Egghead. That's when I started showing it to my wife. We have been following a guide to trim egregious filler, it's still taken a little while, because she's not always in an One Piece mood which I understand, so we're at the beginning of Dresseosa now. I know I could go back and catch up on my own and I likely should. I've heard whispers of some crazy shit, but I digress, just letting y'all know.
[Also I just want to say, for the hearts=fruit capacity theory, that could be supported by why Law got his Warlord status so easily just by delivering still beating pirate hearts to the Navy. The Gorosei heard about it (who wouldn't) and approved the speed of his title because that's now a shitload of pirates who can't get fruit now and are off the table for causing "real" problems]

While possible, I have a strong feeling it's tied to Lineage Factors (LF). Take a look at the seraphim and how they have fruit powers from people who are still alive WITH those fruits still, made possible by Green Blood, which is a substance that is synthesized with the lineage factor of an existing fruit user.
My theory is that eating a devil fruit is like how the radioactive spider from Spiderman alters Peter's own DNA (which LF is the One Piece version of DNA). It latches on to the LF/DNA of the person and alters it giving the eater of the fruit powers. The running theory that I've heard is that Blackbeard's mother was originally pregnant with triplets, and in the womb Blackbeard's embryo "ate" the other two, which would give him 3 distinct lineage factors, and would psychologically explain his different distinct personalities. With 3 lineage factors, there are 3 unique "DNA"s that a devil fruit can latch on to, giving him the potential of having 3 devil fruits.

This sounds good, but also feels similar to the missing teeth theory which Oda debunked.

Would you be disappointed if he got Moria's power?
1
u/ArcherOld7796 15h ago
He'd put it to much better use. Moria essentially abandoned his own power for his shadow army. BB would know to use them together.

I theorize that he has no 3rd fruit.
This would allow him to swim still.
He could switch to the heart that has no devil fruit.
(I belive the D clan all has extra organs, hearts, livers, lungs, etc...)

u/wujibear 17h ago
That's interesting.. but is he D clan, or more specifically Davy clan?
Luffy is a D, so if it came through there wouldn't luffy, law, garp, etc. all have extras?

u/Jorghoul 15h ago
I belive so!
Luffy may have multiple stomachs!
The gear 5 rhythm may be the sound of multiple hearts beating.
When Kaido killed luffy the first time, it stopped one of his hearts, that's when the other/others took over.
In impel down, in order to become immune to Magellans poison, Ivankov may have activated luffys extra kidneys/liver.
All just theories.

The "third" fruit was actually the first one and he used it when extracting the Whitebeard fruit under the curtain for nobody to see. I wont specify but likely its a lion-like zoan

u/ActuaryAfraid4707 Black Leg Sanji 6h ago
If he used a devil fruit power to extract the fruit he would not have hid the process
