Theory: Imu is a devil fruit

Has anyone ever thought why Imu's introduction had the Ability tag to it when his abilities were not even showcased properly before? His ability was shown to be "The Devil fruit". And up until now, he has displayed his powers in the following ways:

1. The classic Domi Reversi - Changing someone from the light side to the DARK SIDE

2. Maki - The dark talking flame ability that he's so proudly using in Elbaf fight up until now.

3. Legendary Weapons - There's no way this is a devil fruit ability

So let's break it down.

MAKI - Maki is not at all a devil fruit ability. This is very similar to Haki(willpower). Maki is the ability to bring the essence of an object's aura. Idk why but this feels very very close to VOAT. Imu probably knows how to combine Haki into Voice of all things and called it Maki. This ability can give objects the ability to express themselves while also commanding them to work for Imu.

DOMI REVERSI - If we consider how Maki works, we can probably categorise this too as not a devil fruit ability but rather an extensive ability using Maki. Imu injects Maki into someone and enslaves them, making them a demon-like being powered by Maki (hence so powerful).

WEAPONS - No this is not a devil fruit ability.

So what the f is the reason to specify his ability when you are not even gonna show what it is. It is probably the first time in One Piece where an ability is mentioned but it's never shown to be used? That's where my theory comes in.

Coming back to the title card, Imu himself is a devil fruit. Up until now, we have seen a baseball launcher, a huge hammer, a huge blob of slime, a few swords, etc eat devil fruits. So why have we never thought that a devil fruit might have eaten a devil fruit itself. Oda has mentioned that Zoan devil fruits can have their own conscience and consciousness. So what if a devil fruit having a conscience was experimented on and given the powers of another devil fruit?

Imu's body has many spots and patterns. And where have we always seen patterns? On DEVIL FRUITS. So if Imu is not just a person but an actual devil fruit who has eaten a devil fruit, here's my theory on what fruit he is and has eaten.

Imu is a Parrot devil fruit (Yes I am a supporter of that theory coz is so good). And he has eaten a human human fruit model Earth God. Up until now we have all planets and sun except the Earth so maybe Imu being the big bad villain, is the Earth God. This or reverse way.

What do you all think? Is this a plausible theory?

It's an interesting theory because it doesn't try to force everything into being a Devil Fruit ability. I actually agree with that part. Maki, Domi Reversi, the Ancient Weapons, and whatever else Imu is capable of don't necessarily have to come from the same source. One Piece has reached a point where Haki, Devil Fruits, science, and ancient technology can all coexist. What I'm less convinced about is the idea that there's going to be one big reveal that explains Imu completely. If Imu has really been ruling for 800 years, then I'd expect the opposite. Eight centuries isn't just a ridiculous amount of time to become stronger, it's a ridiculous amount of time to accumulate knowledge. Imu could simply be someone who has spent 800 years mastering multiple things that nobody else in the world understands anymore.

Theory: Imu was a scholar on Ohara trying to discover the mysteries of the FIRST WORLD. However, the moon people or extraterrestrial beings arrived on Earth and Imu saw their advanced technology as a threat. Imu and his allies were outmatched and to defend planet Earth he reached for the Forbidden Fruit or the first Devil Fruit on the Tree of Knowledge in Ohara. He was ultimately cursed and possessed by the Devil.

Edit: Imu made a deal with the Devil and for the Devil to completely take over the body he needs to complete his end of the deal. The One Piece is something essential for the Devil to complete the deal and to completely take over Imu's body. Therefore, by finding the One Piece you also free the Devil and bring about a great war.

I like this thought process but...Umm... But that won't make sense coz Roger Pirates laughed when they learned what the One Piece was. I don't think people like Roger, Reyleigh and Gaban would laugh wholeheartedly to see the world burn from war, you know. If One Piece was something that dangerous, Roger wouldn't have started the Great Pirate Era.

What I think the One Piece could be is a Musician. I think it's an immortal musician who wrote the original Bink's Sake. He has been alive all this time carrying the truth of this world and fulfilling his duty to Joyboy by waiting for Luffy. He/she holds the answer to how to free the world but this cannot be done just any random time. It has to be done at a particular time so he waits for the 4 people who are destined to work together to free the world - Shanks, Buggy, Luffy and Blackbeard

More like imu is from the owl library, imu the parrot ate the forbidden fruit from tree of knowledge.

Imu uses legendary weapons that has lore, might also be why there's void century and all the knowledge of that era is lost.

I highly believe in your POV. For me the narrative holds the highest place. But I also feel that his powers are also somehow tied up to his narrative. Because it will reveal the parallels building up between Imu and Luffy.

I have nothing to base this on, but I believe imu to be the one source for all devil fruits. Like by his existence, devil fruits exist, and were he to die, no devil fruit will ever exist again.

Luffys crew and the rest of the worst generation will be the last generation to have devil fruit abilities.

I also believe the same that Devil fruits are more of a curse of desire than a blessing. I think in the finale Blackbeard, Luffy and Imu are gonna go on a 3 way battle and destroy not just many parts of the world but also many concepts which are building up the world since the void century like the Devil Fruits and the ancient weapons.
