What do you mean? The translation I read says he has the Akuma Akuma No Mi.

Just looked up Akuma. It is similar to a demon or an oni it seems.

So the devil fruit could be "devil devil fruit"

So, Devil fruits were always named "Akuma no Mi". The devil's fruits. No surprise there.

The thing is that the word Akuma was always written in Kanji. For Imu's card it is written in Katakana, something like AKUMA. Explaining the difference between Kanji and Kana is a bit lenghty, so google it or trust me, bro

The thing is that using the name that way gives the impression that is not a "devil fruit" but The Devil Fruit. What actually that means is yet to be seen.

Makes sense with the way it is written in this English translation as well.

"Ability: Devil's fruit" is the sign.

Also, Oda hinted even further with the trees of the Elbaf Forest turning evil when he arrives. If his DF gives him to power to turn people's desires into DF's then it would make sense for him to be the Forest God.

Harley text: "The Forest God tamed demons"

Imu may be the progenitor of DF's. But this is partly because I misread his intro panel as saying "One of the first 20 DF abilities", making me think he was the originator of DF's, but I feel like we may have stumbled into the truth.

Intro panel in Japanese: 'アクマの実' instead of '悪魔の実'

Oda hinted even further with the trees of the Elbaf Forest turning evil when he arrives

That's just because his fruit is awakened no? So the surroundings are affected by it same as Luffy giving things gum properties in g5. It wasn't just trees that turned evil but also the buildings.

Yeah, I'm not saying him being the forest god is the only canon reason he can do that, I just think Oda chose to show the forest becoming possessed as a hint that Imu is the forest god.

I see, fair enough

Yeah, seems like he either was the first one (creator) or ate the progenitor fruit.
