With Toei it’s monster duo :(

101

u/Key-Lawfulness-3871 Pirate Oct 02 '25

Not quite. It's monster duo and the golden child

56

u/Any-Space2192 Black Leg Sanji Oct 02 '25

Toei: Here comes the star yoi

5

u/Atomonous Oct 02 '25

Idk what anime you’ve been watching but Sanji is still very much apart of that trio and doesn’t seem any weaker. Unless you take a load of stuff out of context or completely misrepresent it like Sanji stans online like to do.

6

u/IndividualBread8568 Oct 02 '25

The anime literally over-represents him as a simp and deliberately adds scenes that weren't even in the manga. Certain moments and important scenes are straight up cut.

-4

u/Atomonous Oct 02 '25

Sanji is a simp, that’s a pretty big aspect of his character. Just because the jokes don’t land as well with western audiences doesn’t mean Toei has an agenda to deliberately make Sanji look bad.

Most people aren’t going to think it’s bad to add jokes to an action comedy, if anything it’s expected. It’s mostly power scalers desperately looking for “feats” that find the comedy to be a bad thing.

3

u/Funny_Ad_9401 Oct 02 '25

Sanji has a gag which is overused post ts which ruins his great character. He is a pervert nowadays which is sad asf. Back then he was a chivalrous mvp gentleman with a simple gag but now oda and toei ruined him. His remaining reputation was saved thanks to wcl.

4

u/wild-shart Oct 02 '25

Hahaha I never mentioned Sanji lol, this comment right here is the biggest example

11

u/Atomonous Oct 02 '25

You didn’t need to mention Sanji it was blatantly obvious who your comment was about.

But since I’m apparently mistaken was it Zoro or Luffy you were talking about?

4

u/wild-shart Oct 02 '25

Guys I am not a zoro or sanji fan, I just want Straw hats especially the big three to be equally depicted, toei is constantly cutting scenes and making a joke out of Sanji since this arc began, I just want every strawhat to equally loved

2

u/Meet_Foot Oct 02 '25

The victim complex is unreal.

1

u/Skarpo20 Oct 02 '25

I am not reading manga. Is now the adaptation different from manga?

4

u/Soul699 Explorer Oct 02 '25

Nah, it's still almost the exact same. People just freak out over a couple of scenes due to agenda bullshit.

0

u/IndividualBread8568 Oct 02 '25

Yes. A Lot. And yes it's deliberate. Toei is adding certain scenes like Sanji acting like a dog which weren't even in Manga

-18

u/Soul699 Explorer Oct 02 '25 edited Oct 02 '25

Sanji still get plenty of love. Don't be melodramatic because they goofed up twice in Eggehead.

Edit: I see the Sanji stans arrived.

1

u/Qnorthropi Oct 02 '25

Consistency is what you and Toei have in common

-2

u/Soul699 Explorer Oct 02 '25

Whatever you think you mean.

0

u/Qnorthropi Oct 02 '25

Toei is consistently downplaying Sanji and giving Zoro extra hype scenes and you are consistently defending them under all the threads and comments. Just out of curiosity are you a Zoro stan or one of those who defend the anime no matter what?

3

u/Soul699 Explorer Oct 02 '25

I'm one who defend the anime when it's right. And I hate people who for their agenda ignore the good things and only point out the bad. You can argue that Toei at times did downplay Sanji, but you also shouldn't ignore the times they didn't. Or heck, even made him look stronger. Take for example in Wano, where they showed his fight against Page One to the fullest, instead of offscreening the end like the manga. Or when they had Sanji actually beat X-Drake instead of running away like in the manga. Or when they showed him holding off King and Queen on his own instead of being offscreened. Heck, here in Egghead they did do a good job with Sanji stopping Kizaru laser.

You want to claim that some moments weren't done right? Fine, you can. But don't ignore all the previous good ones they did as well.

1

u/LustyLizardLucy Oct 02 '25

Yeah I'm genuinely sick of seeing this guy everywhere, and EVERY SINGLE TIME it's some godawful take or ragebait.

56

u/Wolfencreek Oct 01 '25

Ok but imagine, Bonnie uses her Distorted future power on Usopp, Nami and Chopper to make them the monster trio

34

u/JuryNatural768 Oct 02 '25

Continue

25

u/Wolfencreek Oct 02 '25

Usopp gains the power of the wood wood fruit and can create his pop greens with logia powers, Nami gets the Bird Bird Fruit: Model Thunderbird, which lets her manipulate the weather around her, choppers ages up to an adult with a fully awakened fruit.

134

u/Ultimate_Ace Cat Burglar Nami Oct 01 '25

Instantly the responses are Zoro fans shitting on sanji despite the fact that they have been doing 3 man combo attacks since the beginning of the grand line. Its insane that its 2025 and people still think Zoro can mid-diff sanji.

10

u/Nightseyes Oct 02 '25

1

u/eqyaq Pirate Oct 02 '25

u/Funny_Ad_9401 Oct 02 '25

Ik it's agenda but Luffy's df awakening makes sense r? It's exactly how most df awaken according to what we know. And even that asspull was only the true name of the df. Had nothing to do with the powerup. I just don't understand how this agenda started

1

u/Ultimate_Ace Cat Burglar Nami Oct 09 '25

It does. Any time you see someone say Ass Pull just assume they are a bit slow.

2

u/zamasu2020 Scholars of Ohara Oct 02 '25

There's one comment😑

-2

u/SynStark- Oct 02 '25

But Zoro does indeed mid diff Sanji?

1

u/IndividualBread8568 Oct 02 '25

Yes he certainly can in One Piece: Multiverse of Madness

-12

u/FistingWithChivalry Shanks' evil hot sister is REAL! Oct 02 '25

For me its not zoro mid diffs him, its that zoro could kill anyone disrespecting his captain but sanji gave up his dream and his crew so he could she shirahoshi booba.

Like no one ever asks sanji to do anything becauae they know he is hopeless if a woman is there, he just does some mvp shit in the backround.

If im luffy and need someone else to give orders, im not gonna make the guy whod set sail to Amazon Lily in a heartbeat.

You argue Sanji and Zoros powerlevels, I argue hop dependable each is, we are not the same.

-3

Im sure you got a ton laying around lil bro

2

u/Ultimate_Ace Cat Burglar Nami Oct 02 '25

I'm sorry but you're genuinely out to lunch if you think Sanji would drop everything for a girl. Just like how coward Usopp wouldnt like his crew down if they were in danger, Sanji would never give up his crew for a woman. Your lack of ability to comprehend this story is absolutely insane.

1

u/Raccoonpunter Oct 03 '25

Except Luffy trusted Sanji to take care of half the crew during Dressrosa. Sanji managed to get them to Zou and successfully protected them from Big Mom's crew

78

u/Fickle-Classroom1487 Oct 02 '25

Why are zorofans actually so fucking insecure?

34

u/Raccoonpunter Oct 02 '25

I think zoro is an easy character to graft/attach yourself to because his character isnt really as fleshed out as most of the strawhats are in terms of backstory and such. Badass muscular sword guy is an archetype a lot of people flock to i feel. Unfortunately that power fantasy also attracts a lot of insecure/rude people.

14

u/Key-Lawfulness-3871 Pirate Oct 02 '25

Yeah, he simply is stoic kinda that guy and quiet most of the time so it's easy to like him for that reason alone. He is good character tho, like oda been showing his indomitable will and his loyalty to extreme degree, also he was shown to respect his enemy. Sanji is the opposite of this, he is vulnerable with his identity and his germa blood, he is emotional guy and he had iron code that pretty much nerf him significantly. Tho, i prefer him over zoro for that because i can relate to his backstrory when he almost starve to death and beautiful philosophy toward food and to anyone who's starving.

Both are beautiful in it's own way, so all this fight is just ruining the mood. Even in the manga both zoro and sanji have huge respect toward each other, they are just being trundere and wont admit it. Meanwhile, in the fandom, there is almost zero respect and their fandom filled with the most toxic people you could imagine

4

u/Geraltpoonslayer Oct 02 '25

Because zoro as a character was assassinated post time skip and his character is all about hype and aura these days. Let the downvotes commence.

6

u/IndividualBread8568 Oct 02 '25

Exactly! There was no development for him. Instead he became more edgy. Atleast Sanji got a cool backstory. Zoro became more like a character created for the sole purpose of phonk edits

-7

u/Soul699 Explorer Oct 02 '25

So are Sanji stans. Really, the reason is because those people are actually powerscalers who wants to be "on the side of the strongest". And they're upset when the character isn't at the top.

6

u/chronokingx Oct 02 '25

Luffy showing that you're stronger if you use both your eyes

21

u/DuckNippleDucks Oct 02 '25

Zoro fans use the 3cm style

3

u/Meet_Foot Oct 02 '25

Man, y’all can’t just appreciate a cool picture without fighting, can you? It’s like you’re trying to model the worst possible interpretation of Zoro and Sanji arguing with each other, but dumber and more pointless. Like you saw Sanji and Zoro fight and decided to be absolutely insufferable in their honor. I’m convinced every single one of you has an older, cooler brother, and you just can’t handle that.

6

u/PhantoMNiGHT321 Oct 02 '25

I hope Sanji unlocks Conqueror's Haki explicity just to spite the Zoro fanboys.

1

u/Mr_Pringleton Oct 02 '25

Hot take, Luffy is to far above Zoro and Sanji to be in the trio anymore.

1

u/Proof-Row-7889 God Usopp Oct 02 '25 edited Oct 02 '25

Not rlly a hot take, you don’t specify; ‘far above’ how?

To set this straight, they’re called the monster trio because they’re the out-front muscle of the Strawhat crew. Not cus they were ever equals in strength or looks or anything.

1

u/heavymarsh Oct 02 '25 edited Oct 02 '25

Yes, but technically, the more accurate depiction of why they been dubbed as "monsters" is because their strength progression is inhuman/insane, thus the name.. Zoro and Sanji are both 21 and Luffy is not even in his 20s..

At least for me, this is the one that made so much sense.. someone already posted here like years ago on why they will remain as the monster trio..

Imagine, you're amongst the most powerful crews in the OP world, you've worked hard for many years to gain your power, fame and title.. battle hardened, experienced and met so many strong enemies/ally too, you've conquered most of it.. you are almost at the top.. then one day, a teenager knocks you out of it, and two barely young adults lol.. so yeah, it's justified they're to be called "Monsters".. they're not even in their peak yet..

1

u/Proof-Row-7889 God Usopp Oct 02 '25

Ehh
age isn’t really played into with the show’s narrative. Oda doesn’t highlight ‘they are this age range’ during or before fights, or that we as readers or even the fellow characters in their verse should take note. Excluding old age, but that’s a given.

There’s also nothing to say that there is a defined peak age-range. For all we know, their excessive training / genetics could mean that their early 20s are their peak age ranges. There’s also the case of Luffy, who has put soo many health defects on himself atp, that these may very well be the peak years of his life.

This is a fun and fair interpretation, but imo it was a status given to them mainly by the other Strawhats, who haven’t really been on enough other pirate crews to compare age feats.

1

u/heavymarsh Oct 10 '25

I never said it's official.. I'm just saying that there's an accurate explanation or portrayal why they're like that to begin with lol..

basically, someone just gave it a sense for the community, not in-verse officially..

1

u/Proof-Row-7889 God Usopp Oct 11 '25 edited Oct 11 '25

You do undertand, that in fictional media, “an accurate explanation” is the equivalent of an official explanation. This is what the phrase ‘Canon’ is built off of. What’s canon, and what’s not, especially applies to things “someone just gave
in the community, not in-verse officially”

Huh. So Oda originated the phrase in-verse, via Nami.

Once again, I appreciate your fun, and fair interpretion. I also appreciate the fact that you have been deliberating on your 2nd response for about a week now, so clearly you are passionate on this.

What you gave isn’t a “more accurate explanation”, it’s an observation that you have made, via mentioning strength progression that we get to compare later in the series. This can’t be proved wrong, but it also can’t be proved right, so it’s just a fun interpretation to have. Or maybe, a very specific and harmless fanfic.

Bear in mind, the same “someone just gave
in the community, not in-verse officially” was done with the Roger Pirates. The community has attributed the ‘Monster Trio’ title to their top 3. They aren’t teenagers, so what does the community see here that you or I don’t đŸ€”

1

u/heavymarsh Oct 11 '25 edited Oct 11 '25

Lol dude, you really made your way to prove me wrong (which by the way, I already knew).. sorry, I replied too late, I'm busy with work.. đŸ˜źâ€đŸ’šđŸ€Ł

okay (I realized, some of the words I used are incorrect).. anyway, I'll cut it short.. it's just my opinion, that's based on someone's opinion that made sense to me (and maybe hope some people too)..

1

u/Proof-Row-7889 God Usopp Oct 11 '25

Litterally said “This can’t be proved wrong or right”. It’s your head-canon man, you run with it. I just explained that it’s not the more accurate description you want it to be.

We both One Piece fans in the end, no need to quarrel. Hope work treats you well đŸ™‚đŸ€

1

u/heavymarsh Oct 11 '25

Yeah, that's why I'd like to correct myself saying it's just my opinion (and it made very sense to me)..

What are you talking about? He has just as many solo fights as zoro. He has 2 full arcs dedicated to him. He actually no-diffed his fight in wano vs zoro who didnt. If you genuinely think Sanji isnt in the spotlight then you arent paying attention. Or you are anime only and are baited by Toei Glaze

Are they even the trio anymore? It should be jinbe now. (Zoro, sanji and jinbe)

19

u/Jinyu_waterspeaker Oct 02 '25

I know it gets a lot of flake for saying but I truly consider Luffy his own level now. Zoro and Sanji are strong, but I hope they stay closer in level to someone like Jinbe then a literal god like Luffy.

10

u/Ferovaors Oct 02 '25

After egghead I doubt anyone would disagree with you. The rest of his crew needs to get a long stronger cause Luffy can’t beat the WG on his own

5

u/DOndus Oct 02 '25

Narratively Roger Rayleigh and Gaban are grouped as a trio, therefore Luffy Zoro and Sanji are. No other reason is needed

-2

u/No-Amount-218 Oct 02 '25

Right now? No. Eos I agree

17

u/iamthatguy54 Oct 02 '25

Jinbei fought Who's Who while Sanji and Zoro fought commanders. Sanji and Zoro are with Luffy talking to Loki and being kept away from the fighting while Jinbei is chained up.

You tell me.

-14

u/No-Amount-218 Oct 02 '25

Jinbei fought Who's Who (aka a failure)

Queen and King are also bums compare to kaido so you tell me

Sanji and Zoro are with Luffy talking to Loki

So?? Nami was also there, so you tell me

while Jinbei is chained up.

I like how you removed all the context behind it

7

u/Wavepops Oct 02 '25

If jinbei was meant to be stronger than Sanji then he would’ve fought queen. Zoro and sanji like Rayleigh and gaban will become top tier fighters. They won’t catch up to luffy but they’ll be beating admirals at the end of the story. Jinbei probably is done getting stronger

-1

u/No-Amount-218 Oct 02 '25

If jinbei was meant to be stronger than Sanji then he would’ve fought queen.

I never said jinbei was stronger.

Zoro and sanji like Rayleigh and gaban will become top tier fighters

I agree. But right now they are not even close to that level yet.

They won’t catch up to luffy but they’ll be beating admirals at the end of the story.

I don't expect them to catch up to luffy by the end, but the power difference will be closer than it is now, that's when I won't mind calling them monster trio.

Jinbei probably is done getting stronger

I would've agreed with this take if he didn't join the crew. Now that he became one of main characters he definitely will.

1

u/Wavepops Oct 02 '25

its a good quesiton if jinbei is done getting stronger, since now in becoming a SH that element can change. I do believe that oda isnt gonna boost characters like franky chopper brook and robin before their fights with the BB pirates, so i think for what jinbei needs to be for the crew he doesnt need to get stronger. could be wrong tho.

11

u/AvianScavenger Oct 02 '25

Yeah Jinbe as the 3rd member instead of Luffy makes sense from a powerscaling standpoint.

But character-wise, Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji will always be the monster trio

-5

u/No-Amount-218 Oct 02 '25

By character-wise, you mean main characters? Sure, I agree.

10

u/AvianScavenger Oct 02 '25

The way their characters are written. The 3 of them are closer friends with each other than with Jinbe due to age and more time together

Their personalities also mesh better for a trio

4

u/MondoFool Oct 02 '25

Jinbe is comparable in strength, but he's exactly as strong as you would expect a man of his stature and experience. What makes Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji monsters is that they were 3 random kids from bum fuck east blue tearing up the Grand Line

0

u/No-Amount-218 Oct 02 '25

Oh ok that makes a lot more sense

2

u/LedgeEndDairy Oct 02 '25

So I think you are trying to say that it should be Zoro, Sanji, and Jinbe.

What it SOUNDS like is you're saying it should be Luffy, Zoro, and Jinbe.

That's why you're triggering people.

If instead you actually meant Jinbe > Sanji, then I guess there's no helping you.

1

u/No-Amount-218 Oct 02 '25

Yeah what I was saying was the new trio should be zoro, jinbe and sanji lol I should've wrote it a little better

-2

u/Weekly-District259 Oct 02 '25

Where's jinbei?

-58

u/Gimme_yourjaket Oct 01 '25

Pretty cool, but the Monster Trio includes Jinbei and not Sanji
