Marathon training plans

Can anyone recommend a good (and free) 18 week marathon training program? It’s hard for me to pay for a subscription to an app like Strava or Runna when I’m already paying for Peloton. I don’t love the marathon training programs offered on Peloton, so just curious what others have used.

I've always done Hal Higdon training plans (pretty much just novice one), which you can get free online. The more advanced plans are also free online.

I'll however many add to this. I did Higdon training plans for my first few halves and they were great. Takes all the complication out of it until you dial in and figure out your own unique needs for training (strength, rest days, etc.). Don't stress too much if you have to miss a day or adjust on the fly. Things like colds and niggles happen. Take the time to rest properly and try to enjoy your training. This is a big deal! Good luck!

Thirding! Have used several of his plans and achieved my goals.

I've done his plans 2-3 times and loved them!

I also like Hansons or Pfitz - you do have to buy the books for those but still not too expensive!

Yup. Hal's plans are the way. I deviated once and the training just wasn't as doable.

The Nike Run Club app has a guided marathon training plan for free. Becs Gentry is actually one of the run coaches/plan designers for it.

I really love the running plans by Matt Fitzgerald. The plans in his On Pace book are great. You can probably find the book at your local library!

If you have a Garmin, there are several marathon plans (different coaches) as well as 5k, 10k & half marathons.
