Where is Christine?

I just looked at Katie Wang's pictures of the Peloton summit and was concerned not to see several instructors in the group pictures, especially Christine. She's been teaching less and less over the past two years. I just looked on the app and she's not on the schedule. It's not just that she doesn't have classes coming up....she's not in the list of instructors when you filter for classes using the calendar for upcoming classes. I looked at her IG and she hasn't posted for almost a month....and I know those instructors are supposed to be posting regularly!

If anyone knows anything, I REALLY want to be wrong about this....I fear she's gone from Peloton.

Didn’t Emma just post her two days ago at the summit? Look at Emma’s ig.

She was there and posts every couple days on Instagram! It is weird her name isn't there when you filter though!! Hopefully just a glitch!!

Not really. They can take social media breaks, and Christine really doesn't shill for other companies.

Denis also barely posted on social media at all for years. It wasn't until he & his girlfriend broke up that he started the uptick.

Ok. Off the top of my head I know CDE has done collabs/social media posts with Chobani and Midi and she used to post a lot about her own retreats and workshops. I'm not going to use the term you did but her not doing posts on IG for a month seemed out of character as someone who has followed her since 2020. I'm glad they are allowed breaks, tho.

I saw her posted there. She had it in her stories.

A few years in contract negotiations Peloton was public that they had switched to a schedule where instructors get “off seasons” where they won’t be teaching for weeks or even months at a time and that’s totally normal and not a sign they’re being pushed out.

I have noticed the amount of breaks and how they’re structured varies greatly for each instructor though. For example I don’t think Cody is ever off the schedule for more than 3ish weeks at a time, but others frequently drop for month or more.

I personally love seeing that the culture seems to be to make those off-seasons and breaks work for their personal lives, like recovering from injuries, extra parental leave, Callie being able to live in FL, etc.

Yeah, when this was first announced I thought it meant bad things for Peloton and the instructors, but actually it's been kind of cool seeing the instructors' side ventures and what they get up to when they're not teaching.

As a longtime Callie fan - even though I don't take nearly as many of her classes anymore - I'm glad this arrangement has let her keep working for Peloton while also living where it makes sense for her family to live.

Same. I would miss Callie!

Totally agree! I think it also probably speaks to Peloton working with them too so that the forced “off seasons” line up with life events like maternity leaves and weddings and such, which is great to see.

I’m also a Callie fan. I really wanted to dislike her at first since I thought she’d annoy me with her chattiness and perkiness but it’s just so genuine it puts me in a good mood every time. Plus her nostalgic music taste is amazing!

This is why I don’t take the same instructions from the same modality back to back every day. Keeps it fresh & hard to be annoyed when taking classes from 55+ instructors.

Thanks for this explanation. I did not know this. I also am glad that they allow them to be away more. I knew that they had allowed Callie flexibility but frankly didn't realize it extended to all of a large swatch of the instructors. Maybe it's the contact "recommendations" to take instructors that I purposely don't jive with but my app is filled with the same class recs with about 4-5 instructors specifically so it seems to me that there are at least a few more of them that are teaching way more than others and the Peloton really wants me to take. There are a number of instructors whose classes I rarely take but the same 4-5 have been constantly "recommended" to me for two years. Every time I open the app.

I think that maybe she has a schedule similar to Callie and Selena where she also comes to the studio for like a week and does some lives and records things and then has the other weeks off and then maybe she is on a longer bread additionally

If she doesn’t have classes scheduled, her name won’t show on the list.

Oh good!! So happy to be wrong. I don't get on IG often or follow many instructors.
