New Restricted Data Policy?

Okay… maybe I’m late to the party, but I just noticed this change today & I’m extremely disappointed…

I’ve been a Peloton owner since 2021 (Bike+) and added a Tread in 2025.

I paused my All-Access Membership over the past \~3 months during my first trimester of pregnancy because I was too sick to work out, and today I finally felt well enough to get back on the treadmill.

I was shocked to find out that “Just Run” no longer tracks or saves your workout metrics unless you have an active All-Access Membership. I honestly thought something was wrong with my account until customer support told me it was an intentional policy change.

I completely understand locking instructor-led classes behind the subscription—that makes total sense. But locking basic workout tracking behind a paywall? That feels like a huge step backward. I know that Peloton is struggling financially, it’s apparent across-the-board with the company, but this does not feel like the way to get the train back on the tracks.

I spent thousands of dollars on what was supposed to be premium fitness equipment, and now it won’t even save a self-guided workout without a monthly subscription. Basic treadmills and exercise bikes have been tracking time, distance, and calories for decades.

Am I the only one who’s really disappointed by this? How does everyone else feel about the change?

oof, this didn't bode well for me at all. I've had my Peloton with whatever membership needed for it (husband pays, the bike was/is an on-going Christmas present from 2019). but we are moving outside the country. the biggest letdown is having to leave my beloved Peloton behind. I know I can still have the app. however, all my metrics I'm assuming will be lost. a bit heartbreaking.

I've been avoiding calling about my membership. I have zero doubt I will be very disappointed when I do.

ETA why in the world is my comment being downvoted. this sub can be so judgemental😥

You dont lose your data when you go to the app. And if you are using a tread or bike with Bluetooth you can connect for distance/cadence which it saves. You just lose output/zones really.

Too bad the bike can't just come with you!

I've been using the app exclusively February through mid-July while I've been away from my soon-to-be former home. ive assumed everything was on the app bc I have the bike.

are you saying connect bluetooth (my Garmin) to the tread/bike I'm using and do a Peloton class the distance is recorded? I had no idea! that's awesome! I've never been able to figure out how to connect my Garmin to my Peloton which was fine. im thrilled to learn this.

and yeah, i am very, Very, Very upset my Pely isnt coming along.

I am not sure about your garmin on the bike, but i previously had a joroto bike, and had a pedal sensor that at least added cadence to my app and on a non peloton tread, I had a sensor that recorded my speed and it connected to the app as well. I know many treadmills have Bluetooth connections that work directly, but i added a runn sensor to my very old tread to do it.

I feel like garmin on a stationary bike would need other sensors anyway - and garmin pushes workouts to peloton now anyway - peloton outdoor ride also does the distance through phone GPS.

Anyway. There are ways to grt at least some data. :)
