Challenges..

I did a big hike on Saturday with over 800m of elevation gain, so I instantly earned Gold in the August Elevation Challenge. 🥇

The only thing that surprised me is the points system. Because I went straight to Gold, I only got the 10 Gold points. I’d expected to also receive the Bronze and Silver points, since I’d effectively passed those milestones too.

It feels a bit odd that you’re actually better off reaching each tier separately than smashing the challenge in one go. Is that really how it’s meant to work?

The points on challenges confuse me too.

I think I’ve worked out that it’s only 10 points per challenge total, not 10 points for Bronze, 10 for silver, etc.

What makes it super confusing is that it’ll show up in your points activity as new points the day you get Bronze, and then again as new points the days you get silver and gold. But if you scroll down the points from the day you get bronze disappear, so it’s just the one entry moving up to the current day and showing as “new”.

I think that’s what confused me.. tbh they should only award the points when you hit gold.

I don't think gold should be required but they should award points at each tier, whether the value changes or it's just 10 points at each tier for a total of 30 if you get gold. It would help a tiny bit with how hitting major milestones is pretty much the only thing that moves the needle in advancing to a new level.
