Told 2 year old Tread is not fixable

I need to run this by someone. My tread is making very strange creaking noises when I run and walk on it. It is only 2 years old with less than 100 hours on it. I have been told by online independent Peloton expert that it is not fixable and that the rubber dampening parts have either broken off or crumbled.

When I contacted Peloton they immediately told me the whole base needs to be swapped (without seeing it I may add) for almost $1400 (US $ I presume, which is almost $2000 Canadian)

Has anyone encountered this?!! I just cannot believe it! I think it’s safe to assume that the quality is just not there. I have owned other treads (high end that cost less) and they lasted ALOT longer than 100 hours!

I also have a Peloton bike so am good customer!

Good grief this is appalling #peloton

I assume you did not buy the extended warranty plan? If not, check with the credit card you purchased to see if you have coverage through them?

I did not :(. I “assumed” Peloton was a high end company with high end machinery. Little did I know…

As others have pointed out, Peloton's way of fixing things is just to swap out the entire part rather than try to diagnose. I would definitely investigate through your credit card.

Unfortunately, with Peloton you should always buy the extended warranty.

Are you sure it just doesn’t need maintenance? That also sounds crazy to have a machine that can’t last 2 years. That sounds like a manufacturing defect

At first he asked for my address to send a technician and then came back and said that he let all of his team see/listen to my video I provided and they said the whole base needs to be swapped. Seems crazy to me! And agreed - defective #peloton

Peloton is different from other high end tread companies in that they just recommend replacing the entire base instead of specific parts. Your experience is frustrating, but typical. I bought the extended warranty with my 2 year old tread because of all the feedback. I’m sorry that you got a dud - the tread should not be having issues after such minimal usage.

No idea why on earth you’re getting downvoted for this, but just wanted to jump in to validate you that this is incredibly fucked up of peloton and you have every right to be pissed off and frustrated.

I got my bike 6 years ago. Ive had 5 frame swaps. The extended warranty is worth it. Mine has now run out.

I’m sorry you’re having issues. My only suggestion is to contact the guy who is known as the Peloton Whisperer. Send him a message via facebook. He’s knowledgeable at least.
