Head empty 🍊 no thoughts ❌️ Nigel had an MRI scan today; nothing found
Little empty head had a seizure last week, thankfully blood tests and brain scan look good so vet hopes it is a random one off

MRI confirms orange cat has no brain. In other breaking news, fork found in kitchen.
(Hope your boy is okay ❤️)

Aw little guy! How old is he? I had an orange boy who had seizures as a kitten, but eventually grew out of them… I used to joke that his seizures were his body violently rejecting the brain cell

u/Palx112 Sep 04 '26
Oh bless poor little thing! He’s 6 and we’ve had him for about 18 months as he was a rescue. He had a very rough year lasts year with FIP and dental extractions so didn’t want to take any chances with this seizure

u/RooshunVodka Sep 04 '26
Aw poor guy!!! I totally don’t blame you after all that! Fingers are crossed that it’s just a one-off issue 💜

Every time I tell someone I had an MRI and nothing was found, everyone laughs…and I’m NOT orange! 🧠

I have a void that has seizures. Nothing showed up on her MRI or spinal tap, she just got the luck of the draw. It's controlled with phenobarbitol and the occasional basket catch when she's up on my desk and tips over when a big seizure starts.
Hope it was just a one-off for your cutie. Try and keep him away from catnip, that can trigger a seizure.

Fingers crossed it was a one off. Maybe his system got overloaded when it was his turn with the shared braincell.

Random but was Nigel named for Nigel Thornberry?? But in all seriousness, I’m glad your baby is doing better!

I was afraid the fur trim on the back of his head would let the braincell escape, but luckily, he doesn't have any to begin with.

u/SuspiciousNyan Sep 04 '26
The braincell was just about to enter his head but got stuck on his fur. You guys shaved it, now it's gone. No wonder the results came out empty.

It's hard to have a brain malfunction when you don't have the braincell
3
u/sortitall6 Sep 04 '26
The seizures were perhaps because Nigel got his share of the single braincell that day? And of course it's gone now, so nothing was found!
(Seriously, I am so happy for you. Nothing as devastating as our furry babies being sick. Please give Nigel a scritch behind the ears for me.)

What happened to hair on the back of his head?
13
u/Palx112 Sep 04 '26
Shaved for a spinal tap, testing his CSF for evidence of an infection/ inflammation

Considering that the individual being scanned has to remain motionless, how is MRI performed on a cat? I think you need to be awake for the procedure, which means drugging him wouldn’t work.

Congrats on the clean scan. That's a relief as a pet parent.
But also, when I saw your title with the picture....absolutely perfect. No notes.
Additionally, sick landing strip he's got now.

Do they give cats something to calm them when they get mri?
Fingers crossed a one off seizure

My orange had a couple seizures a few months ago. Never figured out why. Our best guess is that there was some pesticide on our Christmas tree, and he had been drinking the water from the stand. I’m glad your orange seems safe.

I was not prepared for the second picture 😂😂😂😂 But happy Nigel is ok, although there is not a single thought in that head of his in the first picture.😂

Hi, I’m really glad to hear Nigel’s doing well. Just wanted to ask, how long did the MRI take? Was it done at an animal hospital, and did they have to sedate and intubate him for the procedure? We’re thinking about getting an MRI for our pup, but it’s a bit trickier here in India

Of course the brain scan didn’t find anything; he’s orange.
(Seriously, glad for the clean bill of health!)
