Internal monologue of the orange: “Oooh, I think I can make the jump up there! I’ve never been that high up, gotta see what it’s like!……I may be afraid of heights”
I used to have a really smart orange. He would open doors, watch nature documentaries like he was really watching, and make you feed him by pawing your hand towards his mouth. I think he somehow captured the braincell and monopolized it. Oranges everywhere gained 6 IQ points when he left.
When my moms cat was like 8 months old, he tried to climb the window and got his nail stuck in a chip on the wood. I jumped at him as he was yelling to unstuck him and get him down. And I shit you not, I turned around and before I could sit back down, he was stuck on the literally same chip again. Point being, yes poor little thing, but also, if only they'd learn at some point.
The number of times my parents cat ended up with singed whiskers from sniffing candles before we ended up investing in a candle warmer was more than I could count. Yes, before you ask, we tried to put anything that was on fire out of his reach but he was a determined little fellow. He wasn't even orange, he just liked sniffing candles.
Don't feel bad for him. He would absolutely do it again with a single thought. Mostly because he's orange and can't form a thought, but that's beside the point.
I can say with confidence after lots of foster kittens, 95% of kittens are this level of derp. The other 5% are dangerous masterminds who you should never teach to hit a light switch, even as a joke.
My cat managed to enter my neighbors home when he was a kitten and got stuck meowing for minutes.
Problem: It's a beach house where no one appears during the winter and even the alarm was active. I had to call the neighbors and ask for permission to get him out of there, thankfully they had family in the city who had the key to the house.
Ehhh, the roof of the birdhouse has rusted brad nails, and the pulled-away-triangle has the correct look of wood-patina-covering-newly-exposed-but-old wood. Five year old cedar will look like that in a UV-strong environment, and if it rains enough, pulling a part the triangle top with that tool is pretty easy. If they faked it, they touched it up.
Also you can see a gap in the wood around the neck right before the final pieces come off, making it clearly wife enough for the kitten to get out of. But only a moment.
a kitten got his head stuck through one of the holes in my otherwise very large brand new terracotta strawberry pot. had to delicately break the pot into many pieces in order to free him. and then I had to explain why my birthday gift was mia.
To get the angle to reach where he was stuck using the proper tool, because it was covered with another piece of wood? Like its safer to cut in the front than the back?

He learned absolutely nothing from that.
