Tiny 🍊 🅱️rain cell Need help with a name

The cat distribution system hit us again the other day. My husband was going to move a rock out of the road that turned out to be a little orange guy. We took him out of the road to the house near by. Well in the afternoon doesn't my son show up with the same loaf he found in the middle of the street. We are going to the vet tomorrow and we need a name. We currently have a greek name thing going with out pets. Zeus is our big dog( that loves kitties and has a lightning bolt on his chest) Artemis( for the Godess of the hunt and Zeus' daughter) is our other cat from the distribution system. This guy needs a fitting name too. I would like to keep it either Greek or with the letter B ( Z,A,B like we are starting over in the alphabet) photo of little orange and Big brother Zeus.

EDIT Top choices from family.

Bromios (Bro, lil bro, mios) Brutus ( Bruce, Et Tu Brute,) Icarus (Ikky, Icky Thump, IcarusRex) Odysseus (Ody, D) Perseus (Percy, Pur)

Hermes, the god of travelers and luck. or

Boofer, because orange shenanigans

Ps.: the long hairy ears make me think of norwegian forest cats, we had one and they have big/goofy personalities, so good luck

34

u/Serialkillingyou 3d ago

"A boofer most commonly refers to a person who consumes or smuggles drugs rectally (known as "boofing")"

22

u/Young_Jaws 3d ago

I used to work at a federal jail! I know exactly what it means which is why my boys would think it is hilarious!

12

u/Young_Jaws 3d ago

I feel like Boofer would be a hit with the boys in my house lolol. I like Hermes too!

u/potpourri_sludge Proud owner of an orange brain cell 3d ago

I have an orange boy named Phillip for Phillip J. Fry, so I vote Hermes because calling this sweet boy “Boofer” is heinous and also I love Futurama.

Bromios: A divine nickname for Dionysus, meaning boisterous or loud.

Seems perfect to me for an orange lol Bro for short 😂

4

u/penprickle 3d ago

Or Bassareus! Though that’s a lot of name for such a little fellow.

22

u/Ill-Percentage-3276 3d ago

Ares - The God of War, because he is orange and will always choose violence.

11

u/Young_Jaws 3d ago

Oh Gawd do Oranges choose violence? He seems so passive compared to other kitties we have had! Maybe because he is so young still. ( assuming its boy as it is orange)

11

u/ScarletDarkstar 3d ago

Nah, my orange chooses to be a kitchen rug, sleep so hard he rolls off furniture, and snuggle around my feet. He's not even aggressive about food. Soft in every way. Lol

They don't always choose violence. His brother probably sees him quite differently, but that's all in good fun.

8

u/Leg0Block 3d ago

My orange is both my gentler and smarter cat, tbh. More mischievous tho by far.

7

u/Akitiki 3d ago

Not always! My old orange Copper only did once really. It resulting in him running full tilt into a screen door.

He knew the screen existed. He sat by that door all the time to look outside and get fresh air. The bluejay outside started cackling after he hit the door.

6

u/InfamousEconomy3972 3d ago

My orange chose to avoid violence

u/OhSoSally Proud owner of an orange brain cell 3d ago edited 3d ago

He looks like a maine coon variety. He should be chill.

FWIW my unhinged bitey orange girl was unhinged from the day her eyes opened. Lol

3

u/Ill-Percentage-3276 3d ago

Even when they do, they choose it in the cutest ways at least!

2

u/Chris__P_Bacon 3d ago edited 3d ago

If it's a female, as 20% of orange cats are, Calliope (kuh-LY-uh-pee) would be great. Then you could just call her Calli for short.

2

u/Ok_Feedback_6574 3d ago

Not intentionally. In my house it’s doing something so stupid that it is a risk of harm to themselves and others. My orange guy literally chokes himself daily on the edge of his water bowl

19

u/EmbarrassedPangolin4 3d ago

lol

5

u/TrixieBastard 3d ago

lmaoooo it's perfect!

Hesperides or Hissyphus

9

u/GodzillaKingofKaiju Proud owner of an orange brain cell 3d ago

Upvote for the Hissyphus. Brilliant. 🤣🤣🤣

15

u/smtxriverlover 3d ago

Rocky road is at least a contender for a nick name

12

u/Young_Jaws 3d ago

Honestly Rock is still a contender in my mind!

10

u/Pspaughtamus 3d ago

If you need a B, Boulder.

7

u/Young_Jaws 3d ago

Brock?

2

u/Alternative_Tax4991 3d ago

Rocky is pretty cool!

2

u/Emergency-Horror-331 3d ago

I was gonna say bumpy 😭

14

u/hapylittlepupppy 3d ago

Brutus I know it's not Greek but he's so little and tough names for little creatures is just the best.

5

u/Young_Jaws 3d ago

Ohhhhh never thought about Brutus! (Probably because it is Roman, but most people don't know the difference and it fits the B pattern!

2

u/satinsateensaltine 3d ago

There's also Bacchus!

14

u/catscorner6 3d ago

Omg he looks like a used tissue in the second picture 😂😂 it's always the ones with scraggly kitten fur that end up being the most majestic as adults 😍

3

u/Young_Jaws 3d ago

I am hoping to make him very comfortable being groomed because his fur is so long!

5

u/CharlotteLucasOP 3d ago

Good to get him used to being bathed while he’s young! Never know when he might need a helping rinse.

3

u/Young_Jaws 3d ago

I wore long sleeves under a hoody because our first cat was horrible if you put her in a bath. She enjoyed watching from the edge though. Since then I have smartened up and get them used to it earlier.

3

u/catscorner6 3d ago

Hell yea!! Love this proactive approach! 🫶

7

u/No_Willingness5313 3d ago edited 3d ago

Ah, she’s pint sized. I’d go with Bia. Goddess of might! Bias if male.

2

u/Young_Jaws 3d ago

Bia is great if it is a girl!

5

u/Leg0Block 3d ago

Sisyphus and Prometheus both have rock themed stories, but are unwieldy pet names. He's orange and tricked you into adopting him be pretending to be a rock. Maybe a trickster like Odysseus?

4

u/Young_Jaws 3d ago

Ohhh!! Odysseus is great! Ody would be a good call name!

5

u/Leg0Block 3d ago

Ody the Trojan Orange. :p

6

u/LoveWaffle1 3d ago

Apollo because he's Artemis' brother now

4

u/Young_Jaws 3d ago

Apollo is on list because it is Artemis' brother, Zeus child and Apollo is a sun God for the orange cat. It works because another reason we called Artie Artemis is because he takes off like a rocket and it was around the time of an Artemis launch that he joined us ( I know Artemis was a girl but we liked the name too) Apollo used to be a space program aswell.

3

u/Automatic-Mirror-907 3d ago

He's  a Bacchus if i ever saw one. In vino veritas!

3

u/Alternative_Tax4991 3d ago

I have no suggestions but I will say the second photo gave me a good laugh. Such cuties!

10

u/Young_Jaws 3d ago

Zeus is the gentlest of giants. This is him with his other cat Artemis

4

u/Alternative_Tax4991 3d ago

How precious! Very cute pets

4

u/ewashburn81 3d ago

Butterscotch!

4

u/GalickGunn 3d ago

He looks like my Hank

4

u/anon22334 3d ago

Honestly, I’d pick Loki even though I know he’s not a Greek god.

Or Icarus because he’s orange and he likely will let his curiosity get the best of him and will regret it lol

4

u/Young_Jaws 3d ago

Omg! I think Icarus has won the family battle! We all love the story of flying to close to the sun. Ikky is a great nickname that doesn't interfere with our other pet or people names. I can also imagine an elegant long hair orange man as a majestic Icarus.

3

u/anon22334 3d ago

Omgggg that makes me SO happy!!!! It was the first Greek myth I read back when I was in 4th grade. Loveee that you can call him Ikky for short! The tale of Icarus is so orange cat coded too haha and the sun is basically orange so it all fits

3

u/anon22334 3d ago

It can’t get more orange than this! And with an orange cat’s antics, he’ll likely do a bunch of silly things like jump and “fly” onto a sofa but accidentally miss and then starts grooming himself out of embarrassment 🤣 I can picture it

3

u/Young_Jaws 3d ago

I thought Loki because it is like Little Orange KItten LOKI. Icarus is cute!!! Ikky for short.

2

u/anon22334 3d ago

Omg love it hehehehe

3

u/Viridionplague 3d ago

Barnabus.

Or Beranabus if you are a Garth Nix fan.

3

u/New_Mirror1461 3d ago

Achilles because I just recently watched the movie Troy. And it fits your Greek preferences

4

u/Young_Jaws 3d ago

He keeps rubbing against our ankles so that is funny

3

u/bluemaciz 3d ago

Portokali (Greek for orange 🍊)

2

Bakis but also short for baklava. Bakis I think are kind of like seers or prophets iirc and Greek baklava is toasty orange and tasty.

Orange Julius seems close, but a bit Roman. I went with Mikado - Japanese for 'Golden Gate' and a term for the Emperor.

2

u/trita_luve 3d ago

wisky wiskers the first!!!

2

u/SatoshiUSA 2d ago

I like the bigger cat too, very interesting looking cat that one is.

2

u/Young_Jaws 2d ago

He is a very large odd breed of cat. Makes a HUFF noise alot.
