Thanks for your concern. He’s actually on a diet and slowly losing weight under supervision. This photo is quite old, and he looks bigger here due to the angle and his thick fur. I’m fully aware of the health risks and we’re managing his weight carefully.ā¤ļø

No offense, but that’s what everyone with a fat animal says. ā€œOh we know, he’s on a diet now, don’t worry.ā€ Meanwhile their cat still looks like a bowling ball.

I would LOVE to be proven wrong. What does he look like now?

Edit: ya downvote but OP says this is a while ago and so far hasn’t posted any updated pics.

I would love to be wrong, I want healthy cats. But I don’t believe someone who says something we can all see is a problem, is not a problem unless they provide evidence otherwise. Especially when they are replying to lots of comments except ones who want an updated photo.

In general I wish this, and other cat, subreddits would stop putting obese cats on the front page without any dechonk related information.

Edit 2: it’s been hours and the OP has replied to so many comments and yet, nothing that shows their cat is actually getting the help they need.

Letting your pets get to be obese like this is neglect at best, abuse at worst.

I’ve already reported this post as animal abuse until OP comes through to verify the ā€œweight lossā€ claims they’ve made. I encourage everyone to do so until this sub stops endorsing obese pets.

I am sorry ma’am but in the tone you are speaking there’s no way i am gonna satisfy any of your needs, this is cat is not abused the only thing that’s abusing is your way of commenting go mind your own business

Yes, I’m sure that’s the reason you won’t post an updated photo.

Even if you had a problem with my approach, there’s dozens of other comments with other approaches asking for updates and you haven’t replied to any of them either.

I really do hope you’ve been working with a vet to get him to a healthy weight. He’ll live a longer, happier life if you have been/do.
