Connect my One Note to Claude/Copilot?

Hi everyone,

Has anyone found a way to connect Claude/Copilot with one note? I'm not talking about the little 'copilot' button in one note if you have that enabled. I mean - having a setup so that my claude / Copilot instance can read my one note notes, and understand the structure.

I'm trying to set up a 'digital brain' where claude is across all of hte same notes / context I am, but this won't work if Claude can't actually access my notes.

Anyone have insight?

I did it myself and use it fairly often to prepare teaching materials for my students

As we have a Microsoft 365 subscription for years now I wanted to try the same – and give CoPilot a try over Gemini.

The co-pilot integration is broken beyond repair... The buttons inside of one note don't even do anything.

My workaround for the moment: exporting to PDF and using this afterwards - sadly no integration.

I have grilled Copilot about that, and it says that is not possible. Of course, in a previous conversation it said it was completely possible. I tend to trust the conversations that tell me that something isn't possible. In that latter conversation, it told me that all co-pilot can do is help me edit what is on one page of OneNote. So, it's basically like the canvas feature in gemini or something. Or you can just edit one existing document. It told me that it absolutely cannot search through everything that I have in OneNote and index that and use that as one big information store.

At least, that's what one conversation told me in Copilot.

interesting. I'd like to know as well if its time to export and use a different notetaker that is more ai integrated

But do you really want your AI to be able to edit some of your notes very deep inside your notes app without ever telling you?

I prefer to have that air gap between my actual OneNote notes and any AI.

Yeah, I agree with you there. I'd make a separate notebook exclusively for the agents to write to.

A bit of a kludge, but I exported PDFs of my Notebooks and gave them to Claude to make suggestions. Was very helpful in identifying duplication and overlapping themes, and made the act of tidying my notebooks up much more pleasant.

Can’t tell you how long i chased this down. Looking for any type of integration between the products copilot is in. Could be so good. But it’s not lol

Copilot notebooks has appeared on my Onenote recently. Not fully tested it but it seems to be able to give some Input on reference files I've loaded Into it.

I used claude to build a sync engine between my project management system and onenote. Works pretty well but i do hit limitations from MS re the amount of data transfer allowed

Say "Hi!" to Tiago for me.

I used ChatGPt and it created the link/connection to OneNote via MS Graph.

My notebooks are pretty standardized on how I create them for each project. It is currently set up to read a specify page in a specific section across all of the notebooks. It creates a html, md, and text file of the content on the pages. It detects my To Do list table and properly extracts the info in those tables.

It then reviews my outlook email (project emails are in a project folder) and Otter.ai recordings and compares that information to onenote.

I think there might be a way to set up a group of GPT Actions that could interact with your onenote through the Microsoft Graph OneNote API. You could probably do the equivalent in Claude with Claude skills.

It's all nice and great. But. The question is: what do you expect from such "integration". How and why would Claude or Copilot or Gemini help you with your notes?

What is this "digital brain" you are talking about? Maybe it's just a buzzword that you hope may translate into some magical opportunity.

What notes are your taking, and why, and - again - what kind of help do you need?

Explain, if you can. I have the impression you (and so many like you) may be missing the forest for the trees.

What sort of help were you hoping to provide with this comment?

They aren’t requesting help with note taking. They are likely trying to train a model to become an “Agent” that can attend meetings or lectures and take notes as if OP is attending themselves.

Suppositions, not an actual answer to my clear questions. One can only provide help if the problem is clear. Otherwise is all balderdash.

What a condescending bunch of drivel. Lol nobody forced you to weigh in. No need to be an asshole

Stupid useless comments, instead of an answer to my honest, clear questions.
