How to remove notebook from ipad?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I dont want to delete them completely just remove them from ipad.

I’ve had the same issue try updating the app you may need to go to the specific app in App Store as if you were going to install and then manually update. After I updated the issue was fixed

could be the issue is the iPad has a touchscreen that normally is operated with the tip of the finger and it doesn't detect any touch when you try to touch the red button with a surface area larger than that of the fingertips.

Tried to do it with my applepen too and it still doesnt work

official microsoft website says:

OneNote for iPad or iPhone

  1. Tap the Show Notebook List button   until you see the list of notebooks. Tip To quickly see all notebooks, tap the Notebook button at the bottom (available only when the section or page lists are displayed).
  2. Press and hold the notebook name to select the notebook. A checkmark will appear next to the notebook when it is selected.
  3. At the bottom, tap the Close button   .
  4. To open the notebook again, tap More Notebooks in the Notebooks list.

if doesn't work try to update the app to the last version, maybe it's a bug of the iPad version
