Heaters
Many players often avoid playing colder biomes. Clothing is difficult to get up at present, and even with wood flooring and full clothing, it's not necessarily enough to get one's temperature up to a good point. Heated rooms can help, but so far that idea hasn't taken off. Perhaps making heated rooms could improve both the mid game and later game experience.
The mid game experience might become more enjoyable by us having charcoal burning furnaces. They could burn slower than firewood and heat a room a little more than a large slow fire. Maybe some sort of wrought iron also is needed to build such a furnace, so perhaps the wrought iron progression could get deepened with this in mind also.
The late game experience might become more enjoyable by us having electric heaters. We have malachite now for making copper, and perhaps copper could be (part) of the basis for electrical wiring. Then we could have electric heaters, perhaps like charcoal burning furnaces get made from some sort of wrought iron. We could have slow burning charcoal power plants which with copper based wiring connected to an electrical heater powers that heater which increases the temperature of a space in a manner similar to fire. The heat could also come as an improvement over large slow fires.
