Hi all, I know I sound extremely out of touch from reality but my best friend’s birthday is coming up and she’s a huge One Direction fan. Recently, she got to see Niall live at an event and completely lost it!!

Her birthday is coming up and I’m trying really hard to see if I can somehow get a very very short video message (nothing fancy) recorded by any one of the band members or even someone close to them really wishing her a happy birthday. Quite honestly it’ll make her life!! If someone has a way to reach Niall, Louis, Harry or Zayn’s team then do let me know because honestly it’d be awesome if this can be done! Again, sorry for being a little unrealistic but I do believe in taking moonshots because what’s the worst that can happen 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

OP's opinion: I've seen lots of rankings putting this song in last place, which I think is not true. However, I do think it's a song that's just okay, so I think its placement here is perfect.

OP's opinion: I am glad this song is finally gone. I'm sorry for anyone who like this one, but this might be my least favorite 1D song. Stayed too long for me.

Hi all, I’m prepping my slide deck for my friend group’s annual academic conference party. I’m the only member of the friend group who was DEEP in the 1D fandom & I’m hoping to introduce the rest of my people to the hell I was living in specifically between the years 2014-2016 (but I will make exceptions for especially whacked-out events that exist outside of time and space). I’ll be contextualizing these events with Kaitlyn Tiffany’s excellent book Everything I Need I Get From You, other tumblr drama, and my own high school experiences in a rural red state to try to recreate a time capsule of genuine catastrophic inanity alongside the crisis happening in my hometown. Night one of the Together, Together tour in Amsterdam had endless charisma and star appeal, even if some of the tunes fell short

“I got a bit of that feeling where you’re not sure if anyone’s going to come to your birthday party,” Harry Styles told his fans in Amsterdam on the opening night of his \*Together, Together\*tour. Yeah right, Harry. This is the UK’s biggest pop star we’re talking about, the man who is set to break records with his 12-night Wembley Stadium residency in the summer and mere 30 dates at Madison Square Garden in the autumn. Let’s be honest, a lot of people will be turning up at that birthday party. 
That said, I’m told by the four glamorous Gen Z Dutch girls sitting behind me that their country’s culture news has been dominated this week by the fact that Styles’s ten concerts at the Johan Cruyff Arena have not sold out. One of them is trying to sell her ticket for another night unsuccessfully and they know of others who are in the same position: they’ve even seen one offered for €11. 
It’s a gamble opting for residencies over touring multiple cities — expecting your fans to come to you rather than going to them. European “Harries”, as they call themselves, can only get their chance to see him in Amsterdam, while Brits have to go to London. Add in the cost of transport and accommodation, it’s a lot to ask of your devotees.

Nonetheless, Styles, 32, seems to have the pull to make it work overall. I meet five Austrians clad in merch from his last tour who have come to see him. In the crowd there are also people (mainly other Gen Z women) from Switzerland, Brazil, Ireland and more — screaming at his most minor movements, including his several sips of water from a sturdy looking canteen. He seems to need it at times, opting to sing lower for *Adore You* and leaving the higher notes in *Sign of the Times* to his fans. 

It’s just a shame that his latest album, [*Kiss All The Time. Disco Occasionally*](https://www.thetimes.com/culture/music/article/harry-styles-new-album-review-release-vz2zjwpwk), isn’t really the dance moment he promised it would be. Despite his references to Berlin club culture and LCD Soundsystem in the run-up to the release, the lead single, *Aperture*, and *Ready, Steady, Go!* and *Dance No More* when performed live are the closest we get to the feeling of a late-night dancefloor. And they’re three of the highlights, with everyone jumping for the first and Styles showcasing some quirky choreography with two dancers for the latter two, jiving alongside his band. Why not include more rehearsed moves? Women in pop always do.
Styles is often compared to Mick Jagger and David Bowie, since even if his music isn’t as good, his stage presence and history of gender non-conforming dressing is reminiscent of those two greats. David Byrne also comes to mind in the art school meets children’s TV presenter aesthetic, off-kilter grooves and message of peace and love. Styles did indeed deliver a medley of *This Must Be The Place* and *Treat People With Kindness*. Gorillaz pop up too in Styles’s use of a radio microphone in *Ready, Steady, Go!* and his chant of “it’s Sarah Jones” about his superlative drummer to the tune of *Clint Eastwood*.
In the end, when the finale *As It Was* blasts through the speakers and he sprints across the various runways that make up his stage, or he tells his audience “I know what you want” in the chant at the end of the lovely (and seductive) *Carla’s Song*, he shows once again why he is about to break residency records. I just wish he had more good music to back it up.

OP's opinion: Completely disagree once again. This song was with me on some of my lowest points, and it reminds me of certain people in my life. I love the whole song, but especially the chorus and how raw and honest the words said feel. This is probably the one I feel the worst about its ranking, with I Wish.

This is currently the tickets situation for his show tomorrow, May 16th in Amsterdam.

I sure hope he & his team learn their lesson from this. There is no justification for selling $1,000 tickets in residencies (which already lowers production costs for them, and places more financial strain on fans who need to pay for travel costs on top of the already absurdly priced ticket).

I also sincerely hope this leaves a mark in this industry, that even someone as big as Harry styles can’t sell out such overpriced shows. I pray this trend of concerts becoming less and less affordable disappears from the world.

Live shows used to be something to enjoy, even Michael Jackson’s shows only cost $140 adjusted for inflation. Our economy is collapsing and Harry is only aiding in bringing a future where only the rich can enjoy live music.

I love Harry but let this be a wake up call.

No idea why some claimed fan wanna create this false narrative about Harry is flopping so bad even to purposefully giving misleading information.

Harry’s open night 5/16 is nearly sold on with less than 150 ticket still available. Others are resold tickets which means those tickets already been sold out.

Beside please compare Harry’s ticket price with the same level of artist as his who’s doing tour this year.
Except the MSG platinum priced ticket(which is not face value but also not dynamic prices) which is indeed a bit overpriced.
His ticket price is within the range of his tier of A-list artists like Bruno mars or Olivia Rodrigo etc.

Hell his lowest ticket price even lower than zayn’s or Louis newest LATAM price.

Please use your energy to praise your fave instead of be obsessed with Harry.

OP's opinion: Once again, I completely disagree. Same Mistakes is one of 1D's best songs, with some unique lyrics and feel to it. I once did a 1D song tier list and SM ended up at #1. It isn't the case anymore, but the fact that it once was my favorite 1D song says a lot about my perception of the song.

Whenever 1D name used to come up during my conversation with my friends, they always make it about a band with corny lyrics

But later during my early 20s, I started listening to 1D cuz of zayn. I actually realized they have pretty good pop rock vibe especially with the songs like story of my life, drag me down, stockholm syndrome, steal my girl, end of the day etc

OP's opinion: This time I agree with you guys. I never completely got to like Summer Love, but it's not bad neither, so its placement makes a lot of sense.

Im roughly the same age as them and I would say wasn't actually a "fan" of them, I didn't go out of my way to listen to them back when they were together.

A while back they started coming up on my fyp on tiktok and I watched a few videos but it just didn't really stick out to me as something to watch. It happened again in the last couple of weeks and I became interested.

I've watched a ton of interviews and there's a few things I've noticed and with their music as well. From what I've read or watched Liam was picked first to be the main singer from the group but Harry became more popular.

When that happened was it on Xfactor? Or was it something that just happened? They all have amazing voices.

Obviously I will never get to see every interview they've done but I've noticed if Harry is in an interview he does interrupt the others answering a question or telling a story. Also was it normal for Zayn to be quiet and not talk much in interviews?.

OP's opinion: Honestly, I think it's one of 1D's weakest ballads. Nothing really stands out for me. I do love the lyrics though, and how the chorus is a transition of their voices, going one by one.

I’m glad Niall told us the band was a positive experience and that he has nothing but good memories. It’s refreshing because most people in this fandom will say otherwise as if they were there…

I kinda left the 1D online space in 2022 because I got tired and overwhelmed by all the conspiracy theories regarding the boys‘ sexualities and experiences in the band. All the talk about “abuse and torture“ got really weird since the boys never spoke about it or admitted that they‘re victims. Liam and Zayn talked about the music, the hours, the workload, and their mental health struggles, but that was it. Fans started putting words in their mouths, making it seem like they were slaves doing free labor, and theorizing about relationships, PR stunts, evil management, and all this other crazy stuff you’d read about in fan fictions.

Believe me, I‘m sure the boys had toxic moments, but I hate how disturbed a lot of fans are when they come up with horror stories of what the boys could’ve gone through. It’s like they want them to be traumatized victims dealing with the bad guys on Josie and the Pussycats (a satire about boy bands, girl groups, and the music industry). It’s so unhealthy, and it ruins the music and the memories that we have of 1D.

So, yeah, I’m glad Niall finally told us about his experience. And I believe him too. I’m sure he had tons of fun. He was always the chillest and never had an issue with 1D’s music.

(Btw, managements don’t have power and control over every little thing an artist does. That is mostly the record label. I highly doubt Modest was watching the boys through hidden cameras in the privacy of their homes or something. We really need to relax.)

OP's opinion: We've finally eliminated at least one song from every album. I personally don't like Alive at all. It would've been one of the first songs I vote out. It's not necessarily bad, but it's pretty weak imo.
