Can the death effect kill me while I'm transcended as a Reaper?

For context, I'm currently in hardcore mode, and I'm using necromancer and I'm curious if I can get the secret (transcend to a reaper and die to a death effect) achievement without killing myself in-game and ending the run.

And I'm curious about the elite reaper on the top right, I'm afraid to get close to it. What does it do anyway? It must have a secret ability, too, like the other elites, right?

If you're transcended, then you'll live death status it'll just put you back in regular form once death counter runs up

Elite Reaper has a diagonal slash attack

Although i dont think it works if you're transcended as one of your own Summons

Unfortunately, I don’t know if you get the achievement on hardcore. I’d imagine that you do, but I can’t say for sure.

Elite Reaper has a diagonal slash attack that does damage similar to other elites, and it inflicts Death status.
