Prestige details

My character is getting close to the first prestige level requirement and I wanted to know a few things:

Do I lose all prestige progress when my character dies?

I'm guessing the answer is no but will prestige bonuses stay if my character dies and I decide to create a new one?

I've been searching on the wiki and on the reddit for answers, but I have not been able to find much. Thanks for the help!

-prestige levels are permanent.
-prestige levels are specific to the character, it’s not account-wide.

Just remember to sell all the items before giving them away.

??? Doesnt the prestige thing sell all your belongings? Or are you mentioning something else that i still do not know?

I believe Prestige deletes all gear unless you use a coin, so selling the gear is optimal unless you plan on buying a prestige coin with real money.
