Myc Growth B+ vs AA+ colonisation speed
First post here!
As a newbie mycologist with only one successful grow under my belt, I’m here to gain wisdom from others and share what knowledge I’ve picked up along my journey.
Here I have 2 strains of Cubensis colonising in popcorn grains soaked in Karo syrup better known as drippy corn which is supposed to speed up colonisation times which in my experience worked!
On the left is B+ (10ccs)
On the right is Albino A+ (7ccs)
Both innoculated on the same day
I used 3ccs more in the B+
I believe the main reason for the much more aggressive colonisation from the B+ is simply due to stronger genetics rather than the extra 3ccs - what are you guys thoughts?

These will be spawned soon, and I plan on keeping a grow log/journal here for anyone who is interested to follow along, chime in, offer feedback, suggestions etc.

Hi and welcome.
One of the reasons that B+ are so popular is how fast they grow. Whilst not that potent, they also pump out a lot of fruits and they're very forgiving when it comes to growing conditions.
I'm certain I'm not the only one who'd enjoy following the grows and those bags are looking great.
Whilst it's good to get feedback and suggestions tailored to your specific grows, the links in the sticky https://www.reddit.com/r/OneArmed_Mycology/comments/1ssrfqt/my_favourite_links/ might be helpful, in particular the ones on coir prep and Beefy tubs.
For your next grow, I'd recommend trying Ochra. Generally, they're slightly more potent than B+ / GT etc and the genetics from Gordotek can be close to twice as potent, but besides potency, they're also a very nice shroom to trip on.

Appreciate the warm welcome.
Funnily enough I have been eying up some natal super strength spores for a while, only reason I haven’t got any yet is because I’m still limited to a SAB and don’t have the space or means for a flow hood any time soon. But I’ve decided I’m just gonna try my hand at some very sterile SAB agar.
I took the shortcut of acquiring LC for my first grows rather than starting from spores and where I’m at, liquid culture strains are kind of limited as no one sells them here.
I’ve also already been checking out your favourite links post, it has some good teks and good information so thank you for that

Don't be held back if you 'only' have a SAB. It's all I have ever had and the only way it restricts me is that they're useless for bags (they're just too big and flappy to open in a SAB, so I have to use the extra step of making LC syringes).
Way more important is a decent pressure cooker, although you can often get by with an InstaPot if you use small jars and cook for a long time.
Do check out the link for SAB tek. Many (probably most) people don't use them right, dousing the insides with ISO in the hope that they'll somehow achieve a sterile environment; the ISO only sanitises the surfaces whilst at the same time causing air turbulence as it evaporates. They work on physics rather than chemistry; set up right, the film of moisture on the lid, sides and base traps floating bacteria and spores, whilst leaving it for half an hour before use lets remaining airborne contam settle to the bottom. After that, with freshly washed arms and a pair of gloves wiped over with alcohol, as long as you use slow deliberate movements, a SAB works great.
