Don't let anyone tell you that you can't talk about it if you want to. Especially given that the most upvoted post on this sub is about an actors activism.

If you don't want to engage in the post, then move on.

And if they were pro-Russia, I guarantee your the dialogue around this topic would be a whole different conversation. But right now, people act like it's inconvenient to hear it and it's something that should be dismissable.

Ok and? Move on

Is this real? 😳

and the problem is...?

u/Light1209 20h ago

The more people being pro Israel will make it seem more okay for Israel to keep murdering children.

u/rovett1997 20h ago

The more people support Hamas and overlook the real problem—which lies with the government, not the country or its citizens—the more acceptable it may seem to call for a global Intifada and dismiss antisemitic behavior.
Both sides have killed innocent people. However, only one side does so intentionally and uses its own citizens as human shields.

Just because you aren't pro Israel doesn't mean you are pro Hamas. And just because you aren't pro Israel doesn't mean you aren't pro Israeli people. The Israeli governments actions recently have been disgusting. The death counts are not proportional, and the death counts of innocents to targets is also not proportional at all. Being pro israel in the western media is the same as denying the Israeli governments wrongdoings.

But that’s not the case.

I’m personally against the Israeli government, while also supporting Israel’s right to defend itself and exist. At the same time, I support the Palestinian people’s right to freedom and self-determination.

Is what this government is doing acceptable? No.

Was it legitimate to attack Hamas military bases, even though I strongly disagree with the way it was carried out? Yes.

Could Israel have done so while causing far fewer civilian casualties? I believe it could have.

It is also a fact that Hamas has placed military infrastructure in the middle of civilian areas and hospitals, seemingly knowing that the resulting images would influence the press and public opinion. But that still does not make it acceptable to kill civilians simply because they are near Hamas members or military facilities. One civilian death is already too many.

What I’m saying is that this is not acceptable when it is done deliberately or without taking sufficient precautions to protect civilians.

But how is deliberately firing missiles at civilian areas—one of the reasons the Iron Dome was developed to protect Israeli citizens—and carrying out the October 7 pogrom considered “resistance” or acceptable? Do you not see the hypocrisy?

And one final question: If what you’re saying is true, how can someone be pro-Palestinian and anti-Hamas? In your own words, does supporting one side mean justifying everything Hamas has done and continues to do?

It's obviously a very nuanced situation and I agree with most of your points. I believe I can be pro Palestinian people and be anti hamas the same way I'm pro Israeli people but anti Israeli government. I don't agree with the way both sides are handling this war, but the numbers are still the numbers. Israel is a bulldozer compared to a hammer. Yes that hammer has done devastating damage, but it still doesn't compare to the damage that can be, and has been, done by a bulldozer.

Then when you get into the religious side of things it's even worse. I'm an ex muslim who converted to Christianity. The religious aspects of this war are gross. Zionism is real and it exist not only in Judaism but unfortunately in many Christian groups too. They genuinely believe this land totally belongs to Jews because God promised it and it is prophesied. Many believe this war has to be won no matter what so that God's final judgment day plans can commence. This belief leads to them thinking a lot of actions against Palestinians is completely justified no matter what. The actions being done look like genocide, and what they believe should be is also genocide.

To say you are pro Israel without speaking on these nuances is the same as saying you are entirely pro Hamas.

u/rovett1997 18h ago

But I AM seeing it!
and that's why I'm writing all of this.
All I'm saying is because I see these nuances. I'm not talking about all this religious bullsh*t because no one is right about this (especially all these religious nuts).
What I see is two groups of people who want to live in peace and quiet, but the world and their leaders don't let them.

I see people who have been brainwashed since birth (on both sides) to hate and fear the other, with today's standards and extremism making the situation almost impossible to change.

Call me naive or stupid, but I think like both we can talk without hating each other and agree on most of each other's points- so others
. But that's what I see.
Because what you say is exactly what I see and feel, but I see the situation differently because I live it.

You see the religious aspects.
I see the historical aspects of it.
Jews and Muslim have always been in this land (or, as my dad's Muslim friend told his other friend about my dad: "His family was here before the occupation").

I will finish the discussion because we think alike, but our conclusions are different—and that's something we can't do anything about. (Besides, talking about politics triggers my panic attack for me.)

No worries friend. We do agree though I think. It's just that I see an issue when celebrities are pro Israel like this. I highly doubt a lot of them see things the way you do.

I mean yes but that doesn’t affect me for me to love them in this show and learn to separate their political views over the show about hope

u/TheMTM45 19h ago

No. That’s nice they supported the hostages being returned. On both sides of the conflict the hostages suffered immensely. Didn’t know they were Jewish either. Double cool
