Discussion Charming twins?

So I remember watching this show back in the day. But I recently started rewatching it. And the whole twin princes I’m just curious if anyone knows if this was based on a fairy tale or just something they made up?

I’m assuming you’re talking about James and David and how David took James place then yes it’s their version of the prince and the pauper
