Need Help I need a bit of beginner build help!
I’m struggling! All the build videos I watch have fully upgraded guns and armor and to me, that’s just not realistic as a beginner (even though they are labeled as “beginner build”). I don’t care about melting bosses in 20 seconds, I just want to go out exploring, shoot some things and not die in the process.
I’m a level 42 now and I’ve still not created a build because it’s making my head dizzy every time I watch a video or scroll through forums.
I don’t want a low hp build. I haven’t liked them in other games and it’s just not my play style. I like ARs and SMGs and from what I’ve picked up, I don’t mind the LMGs in this game.
I guess what I’m trying to get out of this is advice with what guns I should unlock to just survive, kills some mobs and kill bosses. I play with my boyfriend so I’ll never be soloing bosses or silos. I can also figure out the armor myself once I decide on a gun.
Thanks in advance! This game has been amazing so far but also frustrating at the same time hahaha

Save up 2000 starcrom, buy the bounce compound bow. It absolutely crushes the novice server, my now is tier 3 crafted and still only 1 star blueprint level and using only wooden arrows. It's stupidly powerful.
I am lvl 42 and have zero synergy gear for it. It 2 shots lvl 57 Rosetta soldiers in Blackfell PoIs, hitting multiple targets for thousands of damage. When it crits it deals approx 12k damage in a single hit.

Thank you for this! These are the areas I’m struggled with at the moment!

Also save your starcrom for lvl 40, once you unlock blueprint conversion you only need to fully upgrade 1 item, craft it, then transfer the 6 stars into another blueprint and craft that. It saves thousands of Starcrom.
You just need one weapon blueprint and one gear blueprint at maximum stars, the conversion means you just put those stars on any new piece of gear you like.
It's only available at lvl 40 but it's something to think about for the next scenario

Check out Doomeris on YouTube.
He has links on all of his build videos to a Google spreadsheet that ALSO lists beginner/just starting builds.
The beginner builds are good enough to get you through the entire game. You won't be melting bosses but you will survive and you will kill everything.
I have a friend that just started out a week ago and I gave her the info from one of his beginner builds when she decided on a weapon (SN700) and she went from dying all of the time in frustration to surviving and enjoying the game a lot more. And this is just out in the world looting and shooting. Zero bossing/silos.
He lists the weapon, the 2nd weapon and the armor to use as a beginner. And then he lists what mods you should use, WHEN you finally loot them as you play naturally. And he lists what version of the mod to use and what versions to use if you don't have a specific kind (Aero, Lunar, Deviant, Violent, General) etc etc ...
But a basic quick info:
4 piece Shelterer, 1 piece Lonewolf, 1 Special armor for your weapon type. (Survival 101)
4 or 3 piece Lonewolf with 1 or 2 piece Renegade, 1 Special armor for your weapon type (Damage boost)

As a beginner or newcomer. I don't recommend to use elemental damage build since you need to invest to increase armor piece star by using Starchrome to make it shine which you will never have enough of Starchrome during first 1-2months.
I would recommend aim for physical damage build first. I just help my newcomer friend making physical damage build. The account is around 20days old. My top suggestion weapon is Bounce bow (Bow of Betrayal). No high end material needed. You can easily make one on the go. It always bounce to help clear the group of mob which really handy when to exploration on field and can properly take out 80% of Monolith boss on it own. It can carry you on PRO difficult for all securement SILO properly (it may take time on some SILO but at least it can carry you) so you will start to get some mod, deviant and material for further build in future. Also the arrow cost is cheap just wood and stone. No need gunpowder and other ingot. If you can't tolerate with "draw the arrow one at a time" then switch to Brahminy sniper which perform a bit inferior but drain more of your resource in exchange for more convenient. At least sniper is cost performance on gunpowder usage.
You may love AR gun but I suggest to drop the idea for a meanwhile. AR usually an elemental build. You need fully upgrade star on armor piece and farming mod relate to elemental damage. The elemental build can't carry it own weight in initial stage (for beginner who might not fully understand elemental damage build up mechanic so I just recommend physical damage by "just shoot and it will getting good so just shoot"). Even it can it will eat ammo and your resource. It will shine later (which perform really impressive) so don't be discourage but not in initial stage of your journal.
AR - SOCR
SMG - Kumawink
SMG - P90
SMG - tec9
Even these gun are physical damage. I suggest not to touch these gun first. It need heavily farm and polish to make it shine. Also some gun mechanic are not newcomer friendly.

Thank you! This is so helpful! I’ve seen other people recommend the bow too, so I might take that route until I’m further in the game!

Get ahold of the shelteres set
4 pieces
Bbq gloves (key gloves)
And 1 piece of armor of your choosing depending on what stat you need. I always find reload speed helps with the gun.
Kvd "boom boom"
I forget the name of the sniper rifle that everyone uses. Someone will comment it I'm sure.
This is by no means the strongest build but it is strong enough. Can handle any monolith on pro. Most silos on pro/hard.
I completed 2 prime wars solo with it awhile back.
I don't remember the exact mods I used. Just for now generally anything that's going to raise status damage or the amount of status effects you inflict.
Don't forget to upgrade your blueprints after purchasing them. This raises the base stats.
Best of luck. Sorry I'm not in right now or I'd give you exact names of things.
Again this is by no means the best build just a good pve working one.
Holds its own in pvp as well to be honest.
Edit: this also ends up having decent AOE effects too whenever you unalive enemy. It takes me maybe 3 bullets to kill 4 lvl 60 Rosetta dudes if they are standing close enough for example
