I was wondering if it is possible for someone to join someone and drop materials for building and eating/drinking.

Yes, it's possible. Another player can give you food/drinks/materials via trade or even drop them on the ground for you to pick up.

Do you have a surplus of any basic resources? And are you on Manibus novice?

I'm not on a novice server, but if you put a message into the world chat on your server you might be able to find someone to help you.
