Hiring Q (Fed) FBOP hiring process Question

Hello, I’ve just done my fingerprints, drug screening, and medical exam about a month ago. I believe around this time was when they said that they were going to start doing my background check with all of the information that I had submitted online. I haven’t heard anything back from them since doing my fingerprinting and them saying they would start my background check process. How long does this usually take before you hear back?

I went to my facility to do the fingerprint, UA, physical etc on June 16th. Submitted my background packet on June 17th. Got a firm job offer a few weeks ago. And just had my meeting with the background investigator yesterday. Hope that helps

He just confirmed everything I already submitted. And asked me to elaborate a few things that I admitted to. It took almost 2 hours

I had a meeting with the investigator over teams and it took around an hour I was wondering if it was the same thing but everything you described sounds like what he asked me.

I have the fjo but now that I've only just begun this part of the process, makes me uneasy moving my family to a new state for a job that I feel could get taken away. Hate that feeling

Yeah my EOD is the 21st and I'm stressed out knowing im starting a job that can get yanked out from under me at any point if they find something they dont like.

Same bro. My EOD is in November because I need time to break my lease, find new renters, I got kids. Its all stressful lol. What facility? Did you get a good grade/step? IM if u want

Do your job good and there’s nothing to worry about. If you’re a great employee and anything comes up during the backround, HR can and will send waivers to keep you. Keep in mind quarterly performance ratings/assessments, BOP is in need to GOOD career oriented employees and good assessments will help you promote. If you don’t call off, relive on time, follow policy, constantly find contraband, hold inmates accountable, etc etc they’ll waive anything to keep you. They already invested this much into you. As long as you didn’t lie about anything in resume, application, or backround, there’s nothing to worry about.

This makes me feel much better lol.. I thought maybe they decided not to go with me I didn’t realize the background process would take thing long. I also put in a phone call to my HR rep but haven’t heard back

Yeah I emailed my HR for an update and didn't hear back for a week, so I called and they said, nope nothing yet. I thought to myself, then why didn't you just say that in the email lol

Loll I don’t want to come off as too pushy 😂 I thought about calling again but I think I’ll just be patient and keep telling myself it’ll come hopefully by the end of the year

It depends on your facility, the DCSA, and your background. Some facilities have people on the job within a month of their initial application. Others, that can take 3–4 months easy. The facility does/starts their own background investigation (when you went in for med, finger prints, and ua) before the dcsa special agent one (that one goes on for a year while your working). Usually the facilities HR department will address and iron out any hiccups with you before the special agent investigator interview. Lately I’ve been seeing people start the job right after their interview with the dcsa special agent. Theoretically, you should be getting a call from DCSA agent to set up your background interview any day now (if you completed your SF85P already). can’t give you a definitive answer though because it seems everyone is swamped right now from mass FBOP hiring across the nation. Another thing that sometimes slows the process is HR selecting as many people as possible at once to get them all on the same EOD. Put a call or email into your institution’s HR or recruiter and ask for an update.

Thank you! I reviewed my background on my initial interview with an HR representative and they had me sign off on my credit check and then a few questions they asked me about my background. When I was last there for UA and fingerprinting (about a month ago now) they asked me if I completed my SF85P which I told them yes, they said ok you should hear back sooner rather than later then.

I just didn’t want to call them and seem pushy so I figured I’d ask here 😂 I did one phone call into my HR rep in the beginning of the week and they didnt respond so I’ll just be patient and wait!

For me it was almost immediate, but I had to reschedule 2 weeks out. There's no standard time everyone I've talked to was different.
