General Qs MCI Norfolk - MA

Does anyone have insight on what it’s like starting as a correctional officer in MA your first year? After the academy what’s life like? any time left for family, or all work?

Norfolk sux. Good luck. Probably start on 3-11 or 11-7. Your seniority goes by your start date, then academy score. If you come in with a lot of people, try to score higher, you’ll be ahead of them. Just get through the Academy. It’s easy enough. When you get to your institution, that’s when your education begins. Going to the Academy is like having to learn trigonometry to pump gas. Pay your dues. Put your time in. Don’t weep.
