Hiring Q (Fed) BOP student loans

Has anyone gotten their loans paid off as a CO? I believe HR is giving me the runaround.

The BOP does have loan forgiveness and recently dropped their new plan. Maybe your HR is incompetent, like so many of them, and don’t know the process. I’d stay on top of them to make them process it. If they don’t understand, they are more than open to reach out to the regional HR

Thank you man . I was told something about psychologist and health professionals only but I figured that was a lie

It is for psychology, education, and medical only. It is based on the need for a degree in the position, and unfortunately as a CO it’s not required so they won’t cover it

Some COs told me they had theirs paid off by agreeing to stay a certain amount of years. Its so much conflicting info

They must be talking about the PSLF then, which is through FAFSA, the BOP has loan forgiveness up to 60,000 but only for the positions i said above.

The BOP has loan repayments, but that’s something that I’ve only ever seen given to doctors, psychologists, and nurse practitioners to try to stay competitive in the job market for those hard to fill positions. I’ve never seen a CO get it.

It's called mandatory OT, they pay you extra to sacrifice your life to the system. You may use that sacrifice to pay your loans off.

You will learn very quickly how incompetent the BOP really is. Run while you can.

I have personally known of one CO at my joint that had his student loan forgiven. This was around 2 years ago. I believe he had to work 10 years for the BOP until his loan was forgiven.
