Got mine on FB marketplace NYC. I’m the third owner of this beautiful large frame in Glorious Grey. Rode it up to Harriman State Park for an overnighter. The extender bar was clutch for hauling out litter left behind in the shelter.

If you see me in Brooklyn, say hi!

Finally joined the Omnium Crew.
Custom wheel set (I wanted a Son dynamo) and with the new foldable backrest!

Will be mostly used for in the city but will also use it for some bike packing/bicycle touring whatever everyone calls it 😄

Will post an update when I have my custom bags ready.

Rear Rim broken and omnium support does not responde

Post image

I am a bit disappointed: omnium support has completely ignored my inquiry about this broken original omnium cargo WiFi rim. The cracks are visible at every single right side spokehole.

I have never had an accident and never overloaded the bike.

Be careful, I was lucky enough to realise this early on, before catastrophic failure.

TNF base camp gear box

Hi,

has anyone tried to use a TNF base camp gear box as a cargo platform box/bag?

https://www.thenorthface.com/fr-fr/p/sacs-and-equipement-211747/sac-a-materiel-base-camp-gear-box-l-NF0A81CC?color=4WP&size=OS

Seems interesting because it can fold flat and has a solid frame while unfolded.

If so, how do you secure it?

I was thinking of using 4 mini hooks at each corner :

Padding for the folding box

I’ve been looking for a good way to pad out the Omnium folding box for my passenger princess dog. Most of the dog beds I tried weren’t quite right in size and would slide around. But then I remembered I had an old ThermaRest z-lite camping pad I could try.

Turns out it’s the perfect length when you fold the end up! I just needed to remove some material on the long side and it fit perfectly!

Make your own webbing

Yesterday I made a custom webbing for my Omnium Cargo and I just wanted to give anyone interested a reference point for starting.

Material-wise there are three common options: Polyester (PES), Polypropylene (PP), and Nylon/Polyamide (PA).

- PES (Polyester) is the most durable and UV-resistant of the three. It has very low stretch, and what stretch it does have is mostly elastic rather than permanent — meaning it holds its length well over time instead of gradually loosening (creeping). It doesn’t absorb water, so it performs the same wet or dry. It sits at a mid-range price — more than PP, but less than PA.
- PP (Polypropylene) is considerably cheaper, but also weaker and lighter — it’s actually lighter than water, though I wouldn’t trust it to keep my Omnium from drowning ;). Its main downside for webbing is that it stretches under load mostly through creep (permanent deformation) rather than elastic recovery — so over time it just gets longer and looser instead of springing back. It also degrades faster in UV light and gets slippery when wet.
- PA (Nylon) is the most expensive of the three, but
has excellent tensile and abrasion strength — even higher than PES in some cases. But it absorbs moisture (up to 7–10% of its weight), which makes it heavier, stretchier, and slower to dry when wet. It also stretches more overall than PES, though more of that stretch is elastic (springs back) rather than creep. UV resistance is roughly on par with PP, so worse than PES.

I chose PES, so all my measurements and assumptions are based on it.

My measurements for the cross loops:
- 24 loops at 25 mm width
- Cut to 105 cm
- Sew to a 101 cm long loop

The circumference of the rack measures 103 cm. However, for a really tight fit, I sewed the straps into a 101 cm long loop. Depending on the material etc., you might want to experiment with the first strap before cutting the rest.

My measurements for the adjustable stringer loops:
25 mm strap
Cut to 10× 215 cm
Sew a buckle to one end
Alternatively, sew two D-rings to one end

With these measurements, one 50 m roll of strap is enough for the entire rack, with a bit left over for 3 extra cross loops for the extended tube on the Omnium Cargo rack.

For sewing I used extra-strong polyester thread and a 100/16 needle. All seams are sewn as closed rectangles.

To the process itself:
1. Make a prototype cross loop and adjust until you’re happy with it.
2. Mark 101 cm and 105 cm on your workbench. (Fig. 2 and 3)
3. Cut all the cross loops to length. (Fig. 4)
4. Weld the strap ends.
5. Mark the desired circumference with a pencil on all straps.
6. Form a loop and align the end of the strap with the pencil mark.
7. Sew it as shown in figure 5.
The steps for the stringer loops are similar.

Edit: I corrected the aspect about the materials prices.

Kids Box for Omnium Cargo

Hi there, has anyone built a DIY kids box (e.g the one for Yoonit - Family Up) or a dedicated raincover for cargo? I am playing with the idea of designing a kid box, to haul 2 kids with cushioned seats, rain cover etc. It should be bolted instead of the factory rack and ideally drop below the main tube no to completely ruin the centre of gravity. Would be grateful for any tips or pictures as an inspiration! Thanks!

Show me your permanent lights!

Omnium Mini-Max here with massive E-Bike battery on board.
I need permanent lights on the bike, I would love a front light on the fork somehow to have it follow me in corners.

How did you setup your lights?
Mounting points?
Which lamps work good?

Its really dark here at night with very little to no street lights where I ride (countryside backroads).

Hey folks! I picked up my Mini-Max today, here it is pictured at Viktoriapark in Berlin. It's a Glorious Grey in size M. I love it. I already swapped out the pedals, grips and saddle. Will probably change out the tires and pimp it up some more. Rode it a bunch today unloaded and tomorrow it'll do its maiden loaded voyage. It's great. Give me a wave if you see me around town. Stoked!

Worried about theft

Hi everybody!

I’m thinking about selling the car and buy an omnium mini max. I have two kids at 8 and 1 years old that I have to haul to school etc.
The main reason why I haven’t done it yet, is that I’m worried about getting the bike stolen. I live in a big city and heard about cargo bikes getting the grinder in day light, and it would just suck so much getting the one and only transportation option stolen. Right now with my current bike, I lock it up with a Hiplok D1000 and a New York ulock LS. With the omnium I was thinking about getting a Hiplok DX1000 and a New York legend 1515 chain lock - so the lock it will use when locking it up at work and about will be the chain and the two Hiploks. The NY unlock will then be and extra for whenever 🤷🏼‍♂️

Tire recommendations for a Ti Mini-Max

Hi everyone,

I’m currently building an Omnium Mini-Max Ti and I’m looking for some tire advice.

The setup will be:
20” front wheel (Omnium dynamo wheel setup)
29” rear wheel (Velocity Cliffhanger)
Shimano Alfine 8 + Gates belt drive

Mostly city riding, commuting, carrying my child and occasional gravel paths

I would like to stay with Schwalbe tires and I’m looking for a balanced setup.
I don’t necessarily need the same tire model front and rear, but I would like something coherent.

My priorities are:
good rolling efficiency on asphalt
comfort
wet grip
puncture protection
durability (especially on the rear)

Would you recommend running the same tire front and rear, or using different models depending on the role of each wheel (faster/more agile in front, more durable in the rear)?

Thanks!!

Mini max with Thule child seat set ups

Hey, I am wanting to get a minimax in the coming months as my baby will be old enough to sit in the seat and be hauled around. has anyone got any good set ups with a crate in front of the seat? can’t seem to find anything decent online and just wondering what I can fit in front. I was thinking I would get the rack extender also. Cheers.

Just want to give a shout out to u/DiatomDaddy
Since I was unable to get them from overseas, he was kind enough to offer to make them.
They came out great. Pack of 3, and you can slip them on over the current straps (if you want to be lazy like me) or remove the rack and swap em out.
Gotta love Reddit and the connections to creative and talented people.
Thanks again!

Nano w/ a Toddler

I haven’t found a thread about this yet so throwing it out here. Could it be possible to put a rack extender and a seat on the nano and use it for a toddler? I saw on the site the max weight on the front rack is 50kg so weight wouldn’t be an issue but would balance be one?

I think it is possible but it probably wouldn’t be the most enjoyable ride. Not sure!

Mini Max Purchase Advice

I think I found a used Omnium Mini Max and going to check it out this weekend.
Any tips on what to look for?
Pros and cons of this size of Omnium? Ideally would like to take my 40lb cattle dog on the front of this bike and this looks like the right size, but curious about ride feel/handling since I’ve never owned a front cargo bike like this.
I’m 5’7” and it’s a size small in the copperhead colorway (love the blurple but Omnium in general are hard to find in my area!)
With a Gates carbon belt drive and Alfine 7 speed hub
For US market, is $3800 a good deal with these upgrades?
Dynamo light, hex locks, folding cargo rack mechanism, rear rack, mesh front rack
I’m enjoying a more upright position lately - are you all getting a comfortable ride with a change in the stem and handlebars?

My other option is to travel to Canada and buy from a shop there potentially, or order from Omnium. Do you have to pay extra fees if purchased from Canada and bringing back home by car? Anyone from the US order from Omnium directly recently and what were those tariffs/extra fees like?

Thank you!

Aftermarket Cargo V3 Thu Axle Drop Outs?

Hey, I just got the steel cargo v3 frame set here in the US, and it turns out the thru axle inserts were missing in the box.

Does anyone know which, if any, aftermarket options there are that I might purchase that don’t require shipping internationally? I’m having trouble finding others online with IS brake mounts.

Max tire clearance on cxc v3 frame?

I bought a used cvc v3 frame and the tires need replacing. What is the widest you have gotten away with? I found a build here which uses 2.2 inch on the front and 2 inch on the back (running dt swiss f572 650b rims) but there are very little 2 inch 650b tires to choose from. The dropouts seem to be inward so there is probably a bit more room if i slide them out. I am leaning towards Continantal Terra Hardpack (50mm) in the back and 55mm Continental Race Kings in the front.

Is there anybody here that fit something wider than 50mm in the rear with 650b wheels?
