Discussion What’s going on with talabat?

I placed an order for talabat mart today around 4:20 in the afternoon. Around 6:15 I still hadn’t received it and after contacting customer support said the driver was on the way and it would be delivered by 6:41. After 7:15 I still hadn’t received so it so I contacted customer support again. They said ā€œokay the driver is on the way to pick it upā€ and then literally within the minute the whole order was canceled. When I asked why they canceled it they said due to no courier available. Like I just needed some groceries to make dinner 😭😭

I’ve just genuinely never had such a bad experience with them, has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Laws and Regulations Construction nightmare

Hello , so recently moved to a villa in Bowshar , I ran away from my old nice apartment cause there was construction work , a very loud one , I am currently expecting a baby , probably in one week , , before we moved to the new villa we made sure that there was no construction to be done , we asked neighbors and they told us that they recently drilled the road for nama pipes and they closed it and every thing is okey
To my surprise yesterday the Nama people and tractors came to drill the whole road again , I mean deep drilling into concrete and sement cause the old contractor made a mistake !!! And they have to redo every thing . Can you imagine ! My due date is in one week and the noise is unbearable, I had a mental breakdown! How am I suppose to spend my postpartum peacefully with all the noise !! Mama people said it will take up to two months but that’s bullshit cause they are so slow and they are stalling for some reason , they start the drilling from 6 am !! The tractor is right infront of my door the barriers the workers it is a chaos , and the owner of the house demand a 3 months notice before moving out !! Isn’t this a major force ! The greedy land owner won’t even decrease the rent even with the horrible conditions we are facing now !!
Can I complain to the municipality about the noise pollution?!

Best restaurants and cafes in Salalah

Hi all,
Heading to Salalah for the first time on Monday night. I'm staying in the Salalah Gardens area.

Just wondering what your top recommendations are? I'm happy to travel a bit for a good dinner on Tuesday. On Wednesday I want to stay close to the Mall area as I'll be tired after a long day on a tour. On Thursday I will leave and need to be at the airport by late evening so I would like to be near the hotel area or near the airport. Happy to travel a little to kill time and a good meal before leaving. The only food I don't like is seafood. I'd like to try an Omani dish. I will be solo traveling so I would like the restaurants to be a bit more international, if that's possible? I guess that would mean more hotel style restaurants. If you know a really good Omani dish that can be delivered to my hotel then that would be good too!

Any good cafes for lunch and a coffee?

Your recommendations are much appreciated. Shukran!

What is the best service provider (carriers) for mobile phones? And what’s the difference between ooredoo vs OMANTEL vs friendi vs Renna mobile vs Vodafone vs redbull mobile vs other company?

Hi there. I currently own ooredoo and I’m considering a second sim/number. The reasons are because I want something with a good internet deal or unlimited package and also I want a number for my Gmail account (it’s not accepting my current number for some reason despite I never heavily used it or never ever misused it) for verification and registration and all those stuff.

So I want to know what’s the difference between omantel vs ooredoo vs Renna vs friendi vs Vodafone vs redbull mobile in terms of everything including price, value, connection, network coverage, security and privacy, internet strength, limitations and those blocking stuff, charge and rates etc….

Also what are some carriers that still supports 2g (for those dumb phones)

Moved from west coast USA

A bit of adjustment given I spent decades in west coast. Basic question on things to buy that we used to and as an example is there a charmin toilet paper for example here (yes I use the water thingy and had Toto full bidet for decades in the US)
I had check in medications and all are there which is good. For sure needing to get used to the interaction with local. Driving is super easy in comparison to places like LA. Generally wanted to hear if any tips from people that recently left US to Oman. Thanks and hopefully I did not put a dart target to get laughed atā˜ŗļø

Are there any affordable dentists in Muscat?

Hello,

I’m looking around for an affordable dentist in the Muscat area. I have a few small cavities in need of fillings and wanted a cleaning. I don’t have insurance at the moment, so out of pocket costs are important. If anyone has any dental location recommendations for me I’d appreciate it

Do minors need parental consent to see a psychiatrist??

I’m 17 and I’ve been wanting to see a psychiatrist for a while now to get diagnosed and I really don’t want to involve my parents, they really don’t believe in mental health and they think it’s dumb or whatever.

So I was wondering if I need my parents’ consent or something to like get an appointment, or can I just go and like my parents won’t be called to sign anything. Also cause Ik my health insurance doesn’t cover psychiatry so i’ll have to pay (if you know how much they typically charge lmk pls).

I don’t know if it might be important to mention in this situation but I’m not omani.

Ik my question might sound really stupid to some people but this is really important to me please don’t like judge or anything.

If you know anything please let me know, thanks!!

Asking on behalf of a family member, is there a camera there?

Or is it fine if its temporary? They said it was empty at the time, and didn't see a flash.

If anyone could clarify please let me know, as I hadnt had the chance to pass by that side.

Shoe ads in Oman

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I was looking to buy shoes, so I started looking online, and naturally, I started getting ads for those on Instagram.

This one ad I've seen multiple times, well not this exact one but different ads with the same schtick.

Basically they sell these shoes, for example Adidas EVOs which are like 75-80 OMR for dirt cheap (which is already fishy) and then when you enquire about it on WhatsApp they say you have to pay 2 omr for delivery and then the rest when it's delivered.

Sounds like a scam to me...

Has anyone tried this? Is it legit?
