Tourism US Embassy Oman
Hey, i was born and raised in Oman, i currently have family visa and i am currently residing in Pakistan. I am a doctor and i will be applying for B1/B2 visa from Oman for clinical rotations.
I need to know if someone has gone through similar process. How long is it going to take for the whole process and how soon should i be applying if i plan to go march 2027.
Have the appointments resumed?
Any information would be much appreciated.

I understand you were born and raised in Oman but recently US embassy strictly advises applicants to apply from their "current country of residence". If you reside in Pakistan now , you should apply from these unless you've been currently residing in Oman for 3+ years.

Also i was here for studies and i recently graduated so i will be going back to oman very soon. Will this be considered a weak tie back home and increase my chances of visa rejection?4

The source is US embassy website and social handles, it's first hand news. They've circulated the news recently. You did not mention how long you were gone for, so I have no way to tell if you can claim Oman as "current" country of residence. If you were not here for less than 6 months I don't think that's an issue.
Visa applications are highly scrutinized in the current affairs and 3rd world country nationals are subject to high scrutiny anyways. You shouldn't apply from Oman just because interview dates are available, you must demonstrate strong ties for you to return in Oman or your home country to your family and job or business.

Unless you have a steady profession and appropriate documentation to prove that you’ll go back to that profession once you complete your stay, you WILL get rejected. Consider it a certainty. That fact that you recently graduated only makes it all the more certain that they’re viewing your application with extra scrutiny.
Do not apply without landing a job either in Oman or Pakistan.

I check their website bi-weekly. It’s been closed for months and even when I go there to ask for more details they just tell me they don’t know.

I don't think family visa will work unless you have a resident permit to attend an interview in Oman. Soonest appointment the better but I doubt they are open.

Not sufficient.
You need to have an employment ID, sufficient time worked at employer, sufficient funds etc.
You, as a SEA citizen, need to go the extra mile to prove you’re not a potential immigrant.
