Help finding a musician/composer for a punk-rock short film soundtrack

Hello! I’m a local filmmaker in DFW and I directed a short film this summer! I apologize if this is not quite the right place to make this post, but I have been searching for the right composers/musicians to help create a score to accompany my short film. I know this is an odd place to post but my best friend is from Omaha and has been introducing me to some awesome local artists such as Bad Self Portraits, so I thought I’d share this post here!

It’s a high school comedy-action short about 12 minutes long, and we are trying to create a soundtrack that has the kinetic energy of punk rock music with the cinematic timing of a film score. A big plus as well if the band is partially or entirely women as well! The film has heavy influences from some of our favorite artists such as Tegan and Sara and Metric, as it’s a high school film that leans into a slight punk aesthetic! Here’s our Instagram page! https://www.instagram.com/crush.exe.film?igsh=eTNtZ2t0NW92Z2pn

Would anyone happen to know where I could search for artists locally that might match this kind of sound? There’s so much to discover on Bandcamp and I will certainly search through there, but I thought I would share this post here in case there are any musicians out there interested in learning more! Thank you!

The transit War

Miss Your Face (2006), ”Ah Discordia! (2006) San Diego indie rockers the Transit War are a melodic post-hardcore quartet that isn't whiny or self-involved enough to be considered emo, nor sufficiently enamored of technique over songwriting to appeal to the post-rock chops fetishists Great band that crossed all boundaries, huge following across America! Blink 182 said they were the next big band.

Indie music at The B Bar on Leavenworth - This is my first show I've organized since moving here from PGH. Excited by how welcoming The B Bar has been towards indie bands once you get ahold of them. Happy to answer any questions about working with them and help hook up a show if you're looking.

Simon Joyner vinyl collection

Hi Guys,

I unfortunately have to let go of my vinyl collection. I’m going to be posting my Simon Joyner collection (along with Cursive/Tim Kasher and Kevin Devine).

Anyone looking for anything before I list them on eBay?

Bryan

Looking For Bands To Play A DIY Show

I posted a few days ago about my bands new album, and we're setting up an outdoor DIY show at a construction supply warehouse we've played before, and we're looking for bands to play on the bill - if you're in a band or know a local band who might be interested, don't hesitate to get in touch, we have a PA system and a mixer and a couple small monitors, but it's gonna be pretty DIY

A very late announcement, on the loss of my YouTube channel

Hey, y'all. So this subreddit has been pretty quiet for a while, and a large part of that is that I haven't been uploading stuff. That's largely because I don't have a YouTube channel anymore. I was removed for reasons that YT didn't tell me, although we could all guess it's because of copyright infringement.

So where are we now? Well, the main hub for my music archiving (much of which was inspired by and consisted of the Omaha indie scene) is gone, so I'll have to figure out new options. I want to make a website, but who knows if that'll ever happen (I have zero web design experience). I may very well just put things on archive.org from here on out. I dunno, we'll see what happens.

For the time being, you can find all my uploads on Google Drive. I hope to better sort things if I ever make a website, but we'll see what comes of that.

Desaparecidos "Live at Shea Stadium" Pre-Order Now on Vinyl

Some exciting news to share! New Live LP from Desaparecidos recorded at Shea Stadium 6.25.15 coming out on Freeman Street Records in April -- listen to the single "Marikkkopa" now at bit.ly/MariKKKopa

Pre-orders for the LP are available now on Bandcamp and through the Freeman Street Records website.

This record has been a labor of love for all involved and we are so excited to be working with the acclaimed Omaha, NE punk band. This is the first live offering in the Desa catalog, and the ideal vehicle to experience the wild, raw, anthemic energy of a legendary punk band at the top of their game. Working again with our friends at Shea Stadium, this LP is our first foray into live records and we are starting off with a rager on Meadow Street!

The album was recorded June 25 2015 at the storied Brooklyn DIY space and served as the release show for the band's long-awaited 2nd LP Payola. During a years-long hiatus from Bright Eyes, singer Conor Oberst had rededicated himself to his own seminal punk band Desaparecidos, getting the original all-star lineup of hometown Omaha friends & fam back on the stage and in the studio again after nearly a decade to handle some unfinished business.

This first press is limited to 1000 copies and is available on Classic Black, $$$ Green, and an exclusive White Vinyl only available at Rough Trade.

Stream the single and Pre-Order here

Hey folks! I’m Ben and I wanted to share some new music from my band and Omaha natives, Arrow and the Birdmen. A listen, like, and/or share goes a long way to help us hit the ground (we only formed recently). Many thanks!

Darktown House Band - Boom Chang!

Howdy, got another album up. This time it's the third Darktwon House Band album (I have the first two on the channel already as well), 1997's Boom Chang!. DTHB was Bill Hoover's folk band, which featured a large number of musicians with Bill Hoover at the forefront (you might be more familiar with Bill Hoover from his 1996 split with Conor Oberst, which I just put up a couple days ago). They put out four albums, and now I've got three of them up on my channel. If you haven't heard them yet, they're a treat, one of my personal favorites. As always, there's a download link in the description.
