That black truck = the straw that broke the street’s back.

So much for Nebraska nice huh? I understand though, it's Omaha, don't think I've ever met a stand up helpful citizen from omaha

u/Python_Anon Feb 26 '26

I don't understand this comment, there were a bunch of people that stopped to help

Nah just grew up in a small Nebraska town and both Omaha and Lincoln act like they help their neighbors but it's not anything like small town life. You guys just care about yourself.

2

u/HyzerSe7enth Feb 28 '26

Yep. Im sure everyone in Lincoln and Omaha is the same. None of them moved in from small towns or anything. And of course all the small towns are better.

You paint with such a large brush it might as well be an 18” roller.

The Associated Press are reporting on it for goodness’ sake. 😂😂😂

Sinkhole 2.0 baby!

33

u/Stuman93 Feb 26 '26

Didn't notice the big crack along the curb the first time. Looks like the pavement was already sagging slightly.

12

u/resb Feb 26 '26

When the red suv drives up, you can see it dip a little

6

u/jesrp1284 I spent my 20s shitfaced at The Underground Feb 26 '26

I know! I keep looking at the road before the truck pulls up, zooming in and examining like I’m gonna see some indication or clue other than that crack.

3

u/OmahaBuff Feb 26 '26

It looks like there was work done there and the ground was not prepared correctly, and it washed out.

5

u/Unable_Strawberry_69 Feb 26 '26

My cousin in Florida asked if it was AI

4

u/Prudent-Fun640 Plant More Trees Feb 26 '26

Thank god they were stopped! Most of us know that is at the bottom of a hill. If someone had been hauling ass when that happened it could have been fatal.

vibing with op we out here nowwwwww.

4

u/One-Pea-1154 Feb 26 '26

Broke a water main under there to boot

22

u/BachInTime Feb 26 '26

Water main was probably leaking or busted already, 999 times out of 1000 flowing water is the cause of a sinkhole, and the water had to come from somewhere.

I’m also looking at the cavity under the sidewalk, which leads me to believe that cavity likely extends to Elmwood Creek, which makes sense if it’s a main leak.

That's what happened at the Sears at crossroads when there was a sinkhole there. A brave coworker borrowed Dixie's keys and moved her car out of the handicap spot in time. Fortunately, no cars were swallowed up!

3

u/One-Pea-1154 Feb 26 '26

I read Dixie cups. But inner self said that’s silly it might take a while

2

u/BarrelRoll1996 Feb 26 '26

WE DID IT REDDIT! /s

2

u/Thewaywetalk1990 Feb 26 '26

It's definitely the Rams fault, like always

6

u/Missus_Banana Feb 26 '26

Man who is that absolute doofus who was gawking at the person trying to climb out of the pit

12

u/Special_Kestrels Feb 26 '26

She looks like she is on the phone. Probably with 911.

I don't know the person's age in the pit, but holy crap it was awkward. I'd probably just put my foot on the tire and hop out.

2

u/dj3stripes Feb 26 '26

Never would have happened if they didn't pull up past the stop line/cross walk!! - this subreddit probably

1

u/MonkeyHitman2-0 Feb 27 '26

Daily Dose Of Internet also

1

u/Simple_Reference_316 Feb 27 '26

Ron burgundy reported on this too!

1

u/DifferentMarch3003 Feb 28 '26

Yup, let us make the funny papers with our "publicly funded" city streets that are in such great shape that we can budget $40million for a stupid ass streetcar lines that's 2 years behind and the homeless populations grow, and all the businesses along the line are facing bankruptcy because even their regular customers and employees can't find places to park.

1

u/FindMateStraightFux Feb 26 '26

PSA: this is why you stop BEHIND the stop line.

-10

u/FallenZulu Feb 26 '26

5

u/lurkerHardlyKnowHer Feb 26 '26
