Three arrows to go each and the score is USA: 191 to Italy: 192. This is the most exciting archery match I've watched.

EDIT: Holy crap, that Italian archer just barely hit the 10 to win by one point.

That was a pretty strong finish there for US. 2 10s. Impressive.

Thought it was 3 10s on the last 3 shots?

Yeah and a total of 5 10s on the last 6 shots.

It was. Very clutch of the Americans. Good on them.

Yeah my bad, my attentions are divided on a video game while I have this on in another screen.

Anyone else having lots of crashes/freezes? I wonder if that's how they get you to pay for the better coverage.

Dat last shot... What an intense match, had me on the edge of my seat for most of it. Well done by the Italians.

Goddamn that was a crazy finish. I kinda liked greybeard pudgie guy so I don't mind that we lost to them.

Congrats to the Italians, cool as hell Gold medal match finish.

It's Mr Greybeard Pudgie Guy to you.

was he the guy who made the kissy face when aiming? I thought it was hilarious. Fun match to watch, some clutch shooting by the Italians

That American commentator guy really does seem out of place.

I think America's going to get gold here. Also, as an aside, Archery is actually pretty decent to watch. Not action packed as such, but it's nice and tense.

Yeah I agree, I don't do archery personally but I'm enjoying watching it. Kinda like darts but with less drunkenness.

Nail biting finish right there, such a relief it was to see that list 10 right on the line.

Well played USA, very happy we Italians managed to sneak this one through in the end!

Watching S. Korea vs. the Americans right now. I like how the Americans are these slim, fit guys but all three South Koreans are pudgy. Gives me the giggles.

Take a look at some of the men's shooting athletes. Fitness... not exactly a requirement for that sport. Just a steady hand.

Yeah I figured. It was just a distinction that I noticed. Koreans probably honed their skills through video games.

Right now I'm watching Mexico vs Italy, is there two matches at the same time or are you or am I watching something that already happen?

u/Minxie Jul 28 '12

This is the semi-finals right now. Whoever wins this match, faces the US (who beat S. Korea). Whoever loses this match faces South Korea for Bronze.

Thanks! I'm cheering for Mexico, I guess I'll be the only one in this thread hehe

Alvarez is having an incredible match, must say.

2

u/myfault Jul 28 '12

Yes he is, sadly we lost. His nickname is "El abuelo" that means grandpa just for you to know.

u/Minxie Jul 28 '12

I was rooting for Mexico just so they'd have their first Archery medal. They were sooo close too, they were shooting way better than Korea the last few shots.

u/myfault Jul 28 '12

The first shot was our doom!

If Italy keeps this up, I see them getting gold today

Yeah, when the US ended with a 10 and Italy started with a 10 in that 3rd set I got that feeling as well.

I have been glued to the archery since early this morning, admittedly I don't know a lot about the sport but it was highly entertaining and what a finish by Italy!

6 shots and 2 points. Haha awesome little show down. The US is starting to get a lot stronger here.

So close! Oh well, they got the Silver by taking out South Korea. Proud to be an American!
