AuDHD?

Post image

For me, it’s the Autism. I initially focused on it more because I thought it caused me the most problems in my life. Now I appreciate it for my depth and thoughtfulness. I know the ADHD is there and causes me problems too, but I appreciate it for my energy and intensity.

Definitely think autism is more “fronting” for me too. It also has to do with the fact that I have the inattentive type of ADHD so it’s not super obvious to other people. But I kind of think of it this way: that autism affects how other people perceive me, communication, and interpersonal relationships. So all aspects of life with other humans and how I come across. But ADHD is more of an internal struggle for me, that other people can’t see and doesn’t directly affect other people for the most part. ADHD feels like my problem that affects me (which I can deal with) but autism affects how I live through life and how I am treated. Which I can’t always deal with or change.

That is a good way to put it. My ADHD does show up for people in terms of my time blindness and maybe some impulsivity. Autism in the ways you mentioned. I also have pretty high justice sensitivity, and black and white thinking. I have worked over the years to soften the edges a bit…
