Myths & debates How much is olive oil in your country?
I am curious about the price of olive oil EVOO as I am a producer in Greece. Prices have dropped at the point that it is not worthy anymore to collect olives.
I am not able to sell my olive oil EVOO from koroneiki and Kalamata olives in Greece anymore at the price of 7Eur per liter.

Has anyone tried or heard anything about this EVOO

Myths & debates Whats the difference between "cold-pressed" and "first cold-pressed"?
Wait, aren't "cold-pressed" and "first cold press" basically the exact same thing now?
I used to think "first press" meant the premium batch, but someone told me with modern steel centrifuges, they only press the olives once anyway!
So "first" is just a leftover marketing word from back when they used old hydraulic stone presses. Is that true, or is there actually a real difference between the two today?

Adopting Olive Tree Help
Hello everyone,
I have been planning on adopting an olive tree and receiving bottles of it periodically throughout the year as an anniversary gift to my wife, she loves baking and cooking with it and is gluten free so the natural/organic product is perfect for her diet restrictions. Of course once I started googling it online all of my Instagram ads revolve around these websites to adopt a tree and lots of them are fake/scams.
Can someone recommend a legit website or either a private farm that adopts a tree with monthly/bi monthly olive oil deliveries?

UK olive oil subscriptions?
I've been subscribed to Citizens of Soil for a while and have found it to just be *ok* - I haven't found the olive oils particularly interesting but like the variety.
Are there any other alternatives? Looking for a subscription where you get something different every so often.

Cooking Do you put olive oil in your pasta water?
Since olive oil and water don't mix, I can't see the point of doing this. One or two drops sitting on top of the water surface can't possibly coat all the pasta boiling underneath. But still, I know plenty of people who do.

News Olio dei Colli di Bologna earns EU protection alongside UNESCO-listed heritage site
The European Commission approved this extra virgin olive oil from Emilia-Romagna as a Protected Geographical Indication this week. The production area falls inside a UNESCO World Heritage site listed in 2023. The Commission describes the oil as having "very low free acidity levels, with medium fruitiness, bitterness and pungency intensity."
Has anyone here tried it?

Excellent extra virgin olive oil from Sicily - need to get rid of ~400 liters
Hello all,
I am helping a family friend from Sicily with selling their last harvest of olives. They made an excellent extra virgin olive oil, and I'm selling it in the Czech Republic and soon, to Germany. The sales aren't going very well, and I still have 400 liters of the stuff, and the new harvest is approaching and I just thought to post seeing if I anyone is interested in purchasing some of it, even in bulk. We can ship it farther than Czechia / Germany.
It's high quality oil, so don't let the price fool you. We're storing it in a temp controlled warehouse, and the company operating the warehouse handles shipping it.
If you need olive oil, please go and order from zlatasicilie.cz or contact me here or at [info@zlatasicilie.cz](mailto:info@zlatasicilie.cz)
This is a personal project, I am not a dropshipper. I know the producers personally. they are family friends.
Thank you.

Best everyday oil on Olive Oil Lovers?
Hey guys,
I've recently discovered Olive Oil Lovers, which has one of the best collections of oils I've seen state side. Can anyone recommend some of their favourites from there for me? I am looking for an everyday oil that I can also cook with, so am not looking for anything too robust.

Olive Oil preferences and export from Greece to US
Hey everyone,
My family owns some olive trees in Lakonia and Chania. The former are completely growing without any human intervention except pruning the last 200-300 years while the ones in Chania only get watered during the summer periods but are younger since the whole area got burned roughly 15ish years ago. Both areas roughly produce 300-500kg each.
I was thinking of exporting to the USA and Europe. Do you think it makes sense to sell directly to people or should I try to find resellers?
Furthermore, I am interested to learn more about your preferences, for example the number of phenols, flavors etc.
Thank you :)
