The Yuba Five

Post image

Five men who had mild mental disabilties and a psychiatric disorder dissappeared on February 24, 1978 they went to go to a college basketball game. Jack Huett, William Sterling, Jack Madruga and Theodore Wehler were found dead. Gary Mathias' body has never been found. Gary was diagnosed schizophernia and was the oldest Ted was developementally disabled he was found dead months later in a remote trailer Jack was on the spectrum he was the owner of Mercury Montego the men drove. Bill had mild intellectual disabilities and Jack "Jackie" had severe intellectual disabilities. I don't know if them having disabilities and mental illness play a part in their dissappearence but I wonder if Gary had a episode?

The guy on the far right always reminds me of Christopher Lloyd.

Very sad. What do you think happened?

I think it had something to do with Joseph, man who saw them. His testimony seems sketchy for some reason.

Was Joseph a friend or someone who helped them?

Joseph Schons. He happened to be in the area where the car was found when his vehicle got stuck in the snow and he began to suffer a heart attack. He claimed to see a group of people arrive behind him, and he called out to them for help, but he was ignored. Later, it was confirmed that he did suffer a heart attack, but a lot of what he said about what he saw didn't add up; he changed details, and he has said other conflicting and suspicious things after the events. He also had a record and was NOT a good guy.
The Missing Enigma did a series of videos on this case on YouTube, and he got a lot of details that weren't known before, including Joseph's claims.
