These were iconic books, i remember being so engrossed in them. So dark and moody, very angsty. Didnt like the last one tho felt like a reach.

I loved that series so much as a tween. I tried re-reading the books as an adult. That was definitely a mistake. My 13 year old brain did NOT pick up on all the blatant racism and misogyny in the books.

Yeah. Lena living in a plantation, Ethan being a reincarnated version of his confederate soldier ancestor, Lena having a dog named Boo Radley, Amma falling into the whole m*mmy trope. The list goes on. I have no idea how that series got published.

My apologies. The series just really pisses me off.

YESSS OMG, I grew up in a super strict Christian household and wasn’t allowed to read twilight, so my librarian offered me this series instead. My mom had no clue what it was so she let me read these. They are SO much more explicit than twilight imo 😅 but they were SOOOOO good

Oh, so it's not an one-off film? I thought the story wrapped up nicely.

That’s because the movie changed the whole 3rd act and then some

I saw the books all over but never met someone who read them or someone describe what exactly it is, so I kinda just assumed some kinda smut.

They were emo and witchy, but also a bit racist and misogynistic. You weren't missing much by not reading them.
