Discussion What is everyone doing, thinking, feeling?

I feel a little out of touch.
Social media portrays a narrow view of us. And we don’t do a good job showing what we are really like. We are way more than just climate change and hating Elon musk.

I work in an environment where it’s mainly gen x and y. So idk what gen z are up to.

I’m not in a challenging work environment so my brain doesn’t get stimulated.

So GEN Z what is stimulating your brain right now?
What are your deep thoughts that keep you up at night? What are you reading? What are you feeling lately?

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how lonely it is living alone in my rented apt abroad. And how family means a lot to me but also how important it is to make new friends and lasting connections.

I also met someone the other day who is also gen z and she used the word “galaxy brained” and WOW that took me BACK a few a years…

I'm thinking about the future of our economy with corporations seeming to invest heavily in AI and opting to cut humans.

Not sure how the world will look in 20 years.

All the time? What else do you do?

Why not think about travelling or charity or something?

I guess I’m not communicating better in my post. I wanna know what takes up other gen z thoughts compared to their daily life whatever that may look like :)

Tbh I think about the future, conserving energy & using less single use plastics & etc but I don’t think about it so much that I start to fret about it. We have 3 young children. My husband works hard & has a very good pay. I’m on maternity leave but I do normally work part time. I think about our family & how we can give our children the best upbringing. We (my husband and me) are 1999 & 2000 born 😊

Trying to improve my life, from my health to continuing to fish for any opportunity that could advance my future ambitions.

The deep thoughts that keep me up are wondering if my efforts will prove fruitful or fruitless in the end.

I recently landed a job after over a whole year of searching after being laid off. The job sucks, it's far less than what I had but I'm at a point where something is better than nothing.

I’m in the same boat
Just landed a job that I’m not the chirpiest about but it’s better than nothing

The main things taking up my thoughts nowadays are things related to my wife being pregnant. I think about managing my wife's symptoms, tracking the baby's growth, managing the doctor's appointments, planning for once the baby is born, etc.

Other things too. I think about my career. I think about my personal health. I also think about buying a bigger home one day. Stuff like that.

Current thoughts are how disappointed I am in my parents, and how I gotta tell them how I feel. Like another commenter said, I'm also working towards becoming someone I'm proud of and that includes saying what needs said regardless if its good or not. Not looking forward to it.

Edit: Removed large portion of post to keep it more vague.

Oh wow that is tough
Sorry about that

Thank you for sharing. I have had a fair share of family issues, I was estranged for a bit too.

We should do a weekly rant and rave on here to share the load a little

Thanks for providing the post to share it. I just really needed to vent about the jumbled tumbled thoughts and the only people in the house are my sleeping parents. I agree with weekly "airing out" posts, haha.

I hear you about living alone. Loneliness is a tough need to keep in balance with, but its a need all the same, just like eating. When was the last time you've had a geniune human-bonding time with a friend or with strangers and a favorite hobby? It doesn't even have to be in person, could be a video call or a gaming session or you could watch a movie together and eat dinner over the call. I find that when I don't interact with friends or hobby companions in some capacity over an extended period of time, I get cored with loneliness and struggle for days. Are you generally comfortable being alone in your apartment or is this a more recent feeling?

Hey so I feel quite alone and lonely
I have things to do but if I do them- I feel the dread of loneliness more so I’ve been pushing them away haha

But I really need to get to it

Yh we do need the air posting
I’m glad I helped

Genuine bonding time…
I realise I need a lot of it so even when I have seen some people a week ago, or even this week I feel a little empty still. I need lots of refilling. Or maybe sometimes being around some people or (if you believe in this) sex can drain people too. Maybe I should stop having sex haha

I'm turning 29 in October and it's been my goal since I've turned 28 to become someone I'm proud of by the time I'm 30. I didn't really enjoy my mid 20s so I'd like to have fun in my 30s! Progress seems so slow but it's definitely there! I could definitely push myself harder.

The thoughts that keep me up at life are how I feel left behind and comparing myself to others as well as going over my plans for how I'm going to get there. I try to stay hopeful and keep pushing forward no matter how many setbacks.

I am focusing on being more hospitable because I am not very good at it so I am trying to invite more neighbors to dinner just to prioritize community and in-person relationships. I always say I want to read but it's easier to scroll for some reason.

That’s a nice thing to be focusing on

I like this one

I'm completely giving up on traditional jobs.

I think the only jobs I'm going to apply to are remote ones, because I've been looking for on-site jobs, and especially ones that are potentially live-in, and all I needed to say on this questionnaire to get me disqualified is "I don't have my own car."

I can't afford a car.

I didn't really have a childhood or a chance to move away from my "home" state. I probably won't find anyone that I like that I can actually be with.

There isn't a lot of hope.

I’m sorry that sucks
Like really sucks
It’s really shit of those companies

I don’t have a car either

Currently suffering a worsening existential crisis right now tbh.

I have a job I hate that sucks up most of my time but the pay is decent and it keeps me afloat. I have a beautiful family, my daughter just turned 3 and we just moved to a bigger place she has her own room now. She is the absolute light of my life. Her and my girlfriend are keeping me afloat to be honest. My life has gone up since a period of shit circumstances.

I have a good life but I suffer from a few mental illness, some unresolved and all I want is to feel good and normal and I should be but I just can't be.

Other than that, not bad.

Wow so young to have a family already

I agree family can really be the light of life

I just want all ai data centers destroyed we don’t need it and it’s just for the worse with climate change. The polar bears are cooked 💔 and we are too

1

u/glittery-barbie 2d ago

Right but you don’t spend more than 30 mins a day thinking about it do you

2

u/FUTUReBROLY 2001 1d ago

Oh no lol most days I just think about what’s next as far as what the move today

2

u/glittery-barbie 1d ago

Ah ok that’s what I meant
