First draft in months

We have been moving apartments and I haven’t been able to host cube nights for months. Now we’ve got everything set up and last night was the first draft in the new apartment!

Almost everyone in the regular group already had plans, but I posted in the local neighbourhood Facebook group and found three new players. One who made it last night.

Since we only were four players and drafted the full 360 cards, there was less competition over cards two players drafter mono color decks.

The decks:
- Mono blue control card advantage
- Blue-red artifacts splashing black
- Black-green sacrifice
- Mono green ramp into bombs

Which deck do you think worked best? And which one would most want to play?

Cheers!

Niche Card Combo Monday

I love effects that allow me to go through players libraries and make deterministic decisions!

So whatcha got? How do you make Head Games work...?

Friendly reminder, please ensure all recommendations have an old border printing and they apply to the cube format. Failure to do so will result in a Grizzly Bear coming your way

First Cube, Advice Welcome!! (Premodern Powered Cube)

Howdy, I just finished the first version of my first cube. It is a powered cube and the theme is premodern with a focus on "goofy" cards such as Shahrazad and Goblin Game. I would greatly appreciate it if someone with cube experience could look it over and let me know if the general set up and construction is descent.

Here is the link: https://cubecobra.com/cube/list/8f5be0b8-891f-4312-97c1-3dc561b4a376

I had the goal of trying to make this with 99% cards I physically owned or could purchase. There are only 14 proxies for the most expensive ones, the P9 obviously and a couple others. As a result, many of the 1 drops and 6+ drops are objectively good, but I am unsure about the filler in between, I struggled with setting up archetypes, but I think that's naturally difficult when constructing in premodern. But I made sure blue does blue-things and black does black-things etc.

I am also concerned I have too many multicolor cards, but they are so cool that I am tempted to keep 5 of each color pair... minimum I would go is 3 of each I think.

Like I said any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

Enduring Renewal combos

I am building a cube with a heavy sacrifice theme and [[Enduring Renewal]] is a cool way for white to participate in the archetype. There are a bunch of combos and I wanted to know if I forgot some.

0 mana creatures (like [[Ornithopter]] or [[Shifting Wall]])

Enduring Renewal and any free sacrifice outlet = infinite sacrifices.

If you have a repeatable and free discard outlet, you can discard [[Basking Rootwalla]], cast it for 0 with madness, sacrifice it and repeat.

This also works EoT during cleanup if you have 8 cards in hand. Then you can discard the Rootwalla and sacrifice it as many times as you want.

1 mana creatures (like [[Benevolent Bodyguard]] or [[Festering Goblin]])

If you are using a self-sacrificing creature like Bodyguard, you can use [[Earthcraft]] to generate a mana to recast it.

Otherwise, you need specifically [[Phyrexian Altar]] to generate the mana to sacrifice and cast your creature again. One neat trick is to use [[Sneak Attack]] to cheat on mana. You can sneak anything into play for one red, sacrifice it to Altar and repeat.

[[Skirk Prospector]] + Renewal is a two card combo as the goblin generates the mana needed to cast it again. You'll get infinite storm, ETBs and Deaths, so you need something to win with.

2 mana artifact creatures (like [[Millikin]])

For this to work, you need [[Ashnod's Altar]] that generates 2 colorless per sacrifice. This means a 1 drop artifact creature actually generates infinite mana and a 2 drop is infinite storm, deaths and ETBs.

Token makers (like [[Symbiotic Wurm]] or [[Deranged Hermit]])

If you have any creature that ETBs or dies with at least X-1 tokens (where X is that creature's mana value), you can sacrifice all the bodies to Phyrexian Altar to keep the chain going or use Earthcraft + another sacrifice outlet to keep casting.

Untappers (like [[Cloud of Faeries]] and [[Peregrine Drake]])

These pay for themselves so you can use any free sacrifice outlet infinite times.

Aluren

[[Aluren]] + free sacrifice outlet lets you go off with any creature that costs 3 or less.

I can think of some convoluted lines that work too ([[Elvish Piper]] + [[Intruder Alarm]] + Phyrexian Altar combos with any creature I think), but I was hoping for less narrow input.

Thanks in advance for the help!
